Rest in the Lord and be willing to wait for Him. Psalm 37:7 (NLV)

Tuesday, August 25 Cerwin came home with a delicious watermelon he bought at a roadside stand. It has been a long time since I had watermelon that was as sweet and delicious as this one. It was like eating candy. Some fun facts about watermelon from the internet: Watermelon is an ideal food if you […]
Monday Evening, August 24 It felt refreshing outside – following a late afternoon rain – so I thought it would be a good time for a ten-minute walk. I do longer walks sometimes, but ten minutes is a doable goal for each day. The first thing I saw was this pretty, heart-shaped red bud leaf […]
We love you! Grandpa and Grandma High
I noticed this mushroom on Saturday when returning from a short walk. It was no larger than a 2 inch ball. By the time I thought about it again – Sunday at 3:45 pm – it had grown to the size above – maybe 3-4 inches across. A few hours later – about 8 pm […]
August 23 – 8:00 PM Psalm 19:1-4 Easy-to-Read Version The heavens tell about the glory of God. The skies announce what his hands have made. Each new day tells more of the story, and each night reveals more and more about God’s power. You cannot hear them say anything. They don’t make any sound we […]
We love you! Daddy and Mother
Sunday, August 23 This lunchtime party was for our great nieces, Peyton and Bailey – grandchildren of Cerwin’s brother, Elvin, and wife, Pat. It was held outside at their beautiful new pool – where the children spent most of the afternoon. They have a beautiful setting for a pool. We saw it last fall before […]
Sunday, August 23 Sunday School Taming the Tongue – James 3:1-12 Teacher – Bob Copenhaver Some of the older ones in the congregation remember Ralph Snavely who always asked us to sing Great is Thy Faithfulness. We don’t know why that song was special to him, but I expect he experienced God’s faithfulness in a […]
Saturday, August 22 I love living in an area where fresh fruits and vegetables are readily available at local markets and roadside stands. Right now the local cantaloupe are delicious. We enjoyed one the past few days. We also bought a loaf of homemade bread that I sliced and put in the freezer so it […]
I don’t remember seeing these birds as often as I have been seeing them this summer. My Stokes Field Guide to Birds tells me that I did see one in March 1999. I am trying to learn the difference between the male and female. The males red head is supposed to go deeper into his […]
It has been a different kind of summer – partly due to COVID, but it is also the first summer since Cerwin and I retired from taking a TFC Mobile Chapel to truck shows. Last year we decided to stop having large family reunions here – staying with only our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. […]
I see hummingbirds every day – many times a day – especially in the morning and evening and do not look forward to the day in the near future when they leave for the fall and winter months. The lighting at our feeder is best during the evening, so that is when most of these […]
When I saw this photo on my friend Sharyn’s Facebook page, saying she had separated her Siberian Iris and had several clumps (for free), I quickly responded. I messaged her that I would take two and could pick them up the next morning. She lives only two miles from us. Sometimes in the middle of […]
Friday, August 14 What fun to help Jere and Kristen prepare lots of corn for the freezer. By the time I got there at 8:15 AM, all the corn – 360 ears – had been husked and was ready for desilking. I had to wait for Cerwin to fit it into his work day (TFC […]

Sunday, August 16 Sunday School – Subject: Living Faith – James 2:14-26 Teacher – Nevin Ebersole Does the world see anything in us that proves we are living in Jesus – with a living faith? “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way […]
Wednesday Morning, August 12 It was a delightful morning to be outside at 6 AM. The last quarter moon was still quite bright. I love seeing early morning mist in our valley. It reminds me of what it might have been like in the Garden of Eden – with mist coming up from the earth.
