Happy Birthday to Our Favorite Nathan
We love you! Grandpa & Grandma High
Morning After the Rain
Monday, June 10 I enjoy a morning walk on our patio, especially after an evening rain. The Euphorbia (not sure what variety) looked pretty . I bought this last year, not knowing what it was, and not knowing that it was a perennial. I was glad to see it coming to life again this spring. […]
Favorite Summer Sandwich
Sunday Evening, June 9 I grilled tomato/cheese/bacon open-faced sandwiches for supper. It is one of our favorite evening meals – especially with fresh, local tomatoes. #1 Turn the oven on broil. #2 Lightly butter one side of a piece of bread, then put the buttered side on a cookie sheet. Broil ’til lightly toasted. #3 […]
Hilltop Fun Fest with a TFC Chapel – Part 2
Saturday Evening, June 8 Continued from last night’s post. We were located in the “Service Village”. The therapy animals were in front of us. This one, a Bernese Mountain Dog, is a gentle giant and larger than some ponies. 🙂 As I walked away from the therapy dogs, the train passed me on the back […]
Happy Birthday to Our Favorite Dustan
We love you! Grandpa and Grandma High. (Now you are one-third of the way to my age. Grandma.)
Hilltop Fun Fest with a TFC Chapel – Part 1
Saturday Evening, June 8 Slate Hill Mennonite Church, Camp Hill, does an amazing job of reaching out to the community with their one-night event. The TFC Mobile Chapel is part of their “service village” – an area where community and ministry services have an opportunity to meet those who attend. After the village was set […]
Notes from Sunday Worship
Sunday, June 9 – Teacher Dustan Rohrer Sunday school – Jesus Seals the New Covenant – Mark 15:6-15, 26, 33-39. Dustan titled the lesson, The Greatness of God. Would I have been like Peter – denying Jesus or would I have been like John – standing with his Mother? At the cross: Some came to […]
Birthday Breakfast with My Sister
Friday, June 7 Nancy and I look forward to these birthday breakfasts. It’s nice that our birthdays are four months apart (and nine years) – which means she takes me out in late winter and I take her out in late spring. I won’t tell you how old she is, but the numbers are the […]

Gloria’s Graduation from High School – Part 1
Thursday Evening, June 6 Class of 2019 Commencement Ceremony at LCBC Church, Manheim, Pennsylvania. This was our first view of Gloria (center left) – on the big screen – as she entered the auditorium. They walked in two-by-two from opposite back doors to Pomp and Circumstance by Edward Elgar. Walking up the steps to the […]
Field Work
Thursday, June 6 and Friday, June 7 I enjoyed watching the field work from our kitchen window on Thursday and Friday. I think this is Larry putting manure on one of his fields. A bicyclist photobombed this picture of an Amish neighbor working his field. The Amish men are using different vehicles to work their […]
Ladies Brunch
Wednesday, June 5 There were twelve ladies from our Sunday school class who enjoyed a special brunch at Larry and Carol’s house. It was difficult to get a photo facing a window. Left to right: Lois, Jane, Cathy, Ruthie (hidden), Sue, Arlene, Ruth Ann, Mary, Fern, Lorraine, Dorcas, and Carol (our hostess). Jane read a […]
Sunday Afternoon Walk
June 2 It was a relaxing Sunday for me, so just before 4 pm I decided to walk around the block – a two-mile commitment. The cattle at the farm are grazing in tall grass. They were not allowed in this section of pasture until after the meadow wedding the other week. The first turn […]
Evening Rain
The southern sky looked threatening on Sunday evening. Before long rain was pounding against our windows. Then, just like that, it was over and the sun was shining through our trees. There were lots of rain puddles. This upside down leaf looked beautiful with all the rain drops. Sometimes I am amazed at simple beauty.
Food & Flowers
Friday, May 31 We were in need of Fox Meadows vanilla ice cream, so decided to have a late lunch – or was it an early supper – at the Creamery on Friday afternoon. I love their unique sandwiches, so chose a half Veggie & Mint Grilled Cheese. It was delicious! Cerwin is a bit […]

Are you keeping your covenant to Him when you vowed to follow Him to death. Teacher – Nevin Ebersole Jesus came to reconcile us to God. A compassion we cannot understand. A […]
Around Our Yard
Pretty roses on the patio The yucca is growing again this year – to the left of the ivy covered tree. There will be lots of flowers in a few days. Below it and throughout the memory garden, there are many lush, green ferns. The yarrow is abundant with… …bright yellow flowers. We thought we […]
