Streets of Nassau
Wednesday, February 1
This looked like a fun way to travel the streets of Nassau.
Just as I took this photo, I recognized my cruise friend Kathleen in the carriage.
I just had to take a few truck pictures.
It is the middle winter back home in Pennsylvania. However, it feels like early summertime here.
The lyrics to the song this man was singing caught my attention because I thought it was a gospel song, but as I listened closer, I noticed that it was a song about a bird.
I asked if he knew any gospel songs. He did not, but then said, “Wait, I think I can get one together.” We loved the song, but can’t find the lyrics. It went with Psalm 137:1-4. We remember words that went something like this: “How can we sing the praises of Zion while standing on the banks of Babylon?”
Partway through the morning it began raining, and though it would have been warm enough to go swimming, the water was fairly cold, so we began thinking about something to do in place of swimming for the afternoon.
We spent time in some of the stores to get out of the rain.
After getting back to the welcome center, we made arrangements for our group to go on a glass bottom boat.
After taking our few souvenirs back to our stateroom, we had lunch on the ship. You may recognize Atlantis in the background. It was just across harbor.
After lunch we went back to the welcome center to give them the count (17) of those from our family who would be going on the 2:30 p.m. glass bottom boat.
While walking around our ship, I heard someone calling my name and looked up to see Hezekiah and Jeff waving at us.
This is the man we paid for the boat ride.
While waiting for our boat to come back from its latest tour of the harbor, Lydia watched a man paint a scene on canvas.
The man who was overseeing those who were getting on the glass bottom boat fed the fish so we could see what species were in the lake, but the seagulls often stole the bread.
One of the seagulls left a deposit on Jenna’s shirt!
I had some wet wipes along – which came in handy for cleanup.
So ends this part of our visit to Nassau.
