I Did Not Buy This Basket For You!

1 (1)

I was surprised when I looked out my kitchen window and saw a squirrel in this small basket.

1 (2)

Yes, I’m talking about you.

1a (1)

I did not buy this basket for you.

1a (2)

Those seeds are for my birds.

2 (1)

So you are back.

Apparently you did not get the message that I did not buy this basket for you.

2 (2)

I give up.

Enjoy the little birdies seeds.

The Coffee Company

With Josiah – Friday, August 3

DSC_0072

Josiah enjoys this place on Friday or Saturday evenings when a local musician performs from 7 – 9 p.m.

He called on Thursday and asked if we wanted to go along the next evening.

DSC_0075

I can see why he enjoys it as there is good food and good music.

We each got a sandwich, soup, and dessert.

The coffee was fabulous.

The musician was a very talented guitar player. Most of the musicians here are a mix of folk, blues, and country.

We enjoyed being with Josiah.

It was a nice way to spend a Friday evening.

Celebrating Two Birthdays

On August 1

0

First, I took my sister, Nancy, out for breakfast. We were celebrating her June 2 birthday.

We both had a busy summer, and finally got together on a date.

1 (1)

We went to Tomato Pie Cafe and though we have eaten here before, it was the first time we got tomato pie. The seasoned potatoes, strawberry, and blackberries were delicious as well.

1 (1a)

The pie was made extra tasty because of the fabulous crust.

1 (2)

Our waitress made sure we had plenty of coffee for our very long breakfast. She also took the earlier photo of Nancy and me.

~~~
After supper, we went to Jeff and Chris’ place to celebrate Diana’s birthday – which was on August 1.
She asked us to bring Jana (right) along to help celebrate her special day.
Her parents were creative in the boxes they used.
2 (11)
This one held sandals.
2 (12)
A neat t-shirt.
2 (13)
Another creative box.
2 (14)
A gift card.
2 (15)
Squirt is their family’s nickname for her.
2 (16)
Very tall candles.
2 (20)
Another delicious cake from our favorite bakery – Lititz Family Cupboard Bakery.
~~~

It was nice having two celebrations in one day.

Celebrating life is something we should do every day!

Outside Our Window

7-21 Rain (1)

We’ve had so much rain, heat, and humidity in the past few weeks, it feels like a rainforest.

7-21 Rain (2)

7-24 & 25 Butterflies & hummingbird (1)

I love this time of year because there are lots of butterflies feeding on the nectar of the butterfly bush.

Because of the heat, I have been changing the hummingbird sugar water more than usual.

7-25 & 26 Hay (2)

7-25 & 26 Hay (1)

I miss watching the horses and mules across the road since our Amish neighbor hired someone else to work his fields and bring in the harvest.

7-29 Squirrel (1)

The birds seem to appreciate when I put some black oil sunflower seeds in this tiny bucket.

7-29 Squirrel (2)

The squirrels also seem to like this tiny seed buffet.

7-29 Squirrel (3)

7-30 Dove (1)

This dove was feeding on seeds that dropped from the feeders onto this bush.

7-31 Skunk (1)

The other night, just before going to bed, I turned on the porch light to see if there were any critters eating in our feeding area. At first I thought it was a cat because I only saw white.

8-2 Fog

A foggy morning.

Lunch at the Gehmans

After Worship on Sunday

DSC_0040

The drivers and their families went to Gene and Rose Gehman’s for lunch.

Everyone brought a covered dish or two.

I had never seen or tasted anything like these ham-wrapped pickles. They were delicious.

There are a variety of recipes online if you Google ham-wrapped pickles.
