A Weekend of Parties

Congratulations!

Kurt – Justin – Nathan

 ~~~
Saturday Evening
Kurt and his girlfriend, Nadia
Congratulations to our nephew, Kurt, on his graduation from high school.
Fresh Fruit
Kurt’s mom, my youngest brother’s wife, prepared a delicious meal at our family’s pavilion.
My middle brother, my sister, and I have houses is the same four-acre woodlot, where the pavilion is located.  (My other two brothers live in the farmhouse a quarter-mile away.)
Some of the younger ones enjoyed the hammock.
 Ian
One of our grandchildren took this picture of Ian walking toward our house.  It typified the beautiful, peaceful evening.
Notice the sun setting, through the trees to the right of Ian’s head.  At first I thought it looked like a fire!
Sunday Afternoon
Congratulations to our niece’s son, Justin, (right) on his graduation from high school.  (I do not know the name of the girl autographing the dog.)
Justin, Jeremiah, and Cerwin
The local readers will recognize Justin’s friend Jeremiah as the young man who played and sang the part of the beast in the recent musical “Beauty and the Beast”.
Jeremiah’s summer job (before college) is at the same stone quarry where Cerwin held his first job.  They enjoyed comparing the quarry today and almost fifty years ago.
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon for an outdoor party.
Congratulations to our grandson, Nathan, right, on his 14th birthday.  (His cousin, Danny, on the left.)
Our oldest son, Jeff (left) and grandson Nathan (right) escorted Cerwin’s mother from the car when we arrived.
Since we took Mother to Justin’s party, she was pleased to go along to Nathan’s party.
Watermelon was refreshing on a warm afternoon.
This (air/pellet) gun was a highlight of his gifts, along with a jel target.  A neat way of capturing the pellets for reuse.
Gloria brought Hope (I mistakenly called her Lovie earlier.  Wrong lamb!) to introduce to great grandma
Hope is very tame since she had to be bottle-fed as a baby.
These daylilies look delicious.
Since she was discouraged from eating flowers, Hope settled for grass.
Hope decided ice cream cake may taste better than grass!
al (44).JPG
al (46).JPG
Since Nate didn’t let me taste his cake, maybe Hezekiah will let me have some.
Nope, I guess not!
al (48).JPG
Yes!  Jenna gave me a taste.
We all laughed as she shook her head and licked her lips – not sure what to do with this strange taste and texture!
al (50).JPG
When supper was over, Jordan donned a helmet and took several spins on their dirt bike.
al (51).JPG
al (24).JPG
The rest enjoyed relaxing and visiting.
al (25).JPG
When someone asked Chris if their raspberries were soon ready, I had to check them out.
I liked this photo of Nathan and his new gun – against the evening sun.
Visiting Kristen in the Hospital
Since many of you ask about our daughter-in-law, I thought it was time to take a picture of her in the hospital where she has been for almost two weeks.
She and Jere (and the rest of us) were dissapointed that the baby’s lungs were not mature enough for a C-section this week, however, Kristen said it best.  “I would rather spend an extra week or two in the hospital, than have the baby delivered too early, and possibly face a lifetime of challenges.”
A mutual friend asked if I would purchase a flower or plant to take to her today.
Thanks, Anna.  She appreciated your thoughtfulness.
I Spent Today With a Friend
DSC_0004.JPG
Rose and her husband, Gene, are Truck Rally coordinators, and it was time for us to work on some details for the big day next Saturday.  I am gradually moving some of my responsibilities to her, and this was the day she came to my office to learn about preparing items for TFC’s Ministry Material vendor space.
Eating
It’s been a busy week, so I haven’t had time to take a lot of photos ~ or adjust them for my blog.  However, when I went through the ones I did take, it looked like all we did was eat!
Sunday
Since Kristen is still in the hospital, we took their four children, plus Abigail and Hezekiah (from Maine) to Sunday school and church.
The pain in Kristen’s hip has not subsided, and the conclusion is that it is caused by the size of the baby – due to previous hip joint surgeries.  Doctors will preform a C-Section as soon as the baby’s lungs are ready for birth – possibly tomorrow.
BABY UPDATE AT 8:30 AM Friday
He is not quite ready for delivery.  Doctors will do the test again in a few days.
After church, Abigail stemmed strawberries.
In the meantime
Hezekiah was outside grilling hot dogs.
The rest of us prepared the patio with tables, chairs, and food.
Wednesday evening
Mother, Hezekiah, Megan
Since we were planning to visit Cerwin’s mother, we took her out for supper at a nearby restaurant.  Our niece, Megan, (Mother’s great granddaughter) works in the kitchen.  It was fun to see her.
Mother and Hezekiah
Afterwards we went to Mother’s house, where I reconciled her May bank statement, and Cerwin looked over some of her recent paperwork.
~~~

Tonight

1 (12).JPG

Chaplain Tom and Janis Kemp were at my office in the late afternoon to do the layout and design of their next newsletter.  Since they were here until 5:30, we decided to got to a local restaurant for supper.

C1 (13).JPG

I loved my cup of tomato soup.

We went to a rather unique, local restaurant that serves awesome food.  I had a fried oyster sandwich and a cup of delicious tomato soup.

For the locals:  It was the Pantry in Lititz.
