More tomorrow

We had a quiet, wonderful, Easter Day.  After church we went to our son, Jere, and daughter-in-law, Kristen’s house for lunch.  They served their official Easter meal last night, however, it didn’t suit us.  I said we would come on Sunday for leftovers.    They liked that idea.

Our family’s Easter and Spring celebration will be at our place in two weeks.

He isn’t here!

God has raised him to life,

just as Jesus said he would.

Sam Rittenhouse (TFC friend and staff person) invited us to their daughter and son-in-law’s lodge to take candid photos of their family throughout the day.

Each of their six children, five of six spouses, and many grandchildren came to celebrate Easter, and his wife, Alice’s, eightieth birthday.

We just arrived home, and I have way too many photos to go through (more than 800) to post any people pictures tonight.

So I chose a few I took while walking around the grounds.

We must keep our eyes on Jesus,

who leads us and makes our faith complete.

He endured the shame of being nailed to a cross

because he knew that later on

he would be glad he did.

Now he is seated at the right side of God’s throne!

Hebrews 12:2 CEV

Happy Girls ~ Happy Feet

A day with our four, local granddaughters.

(The other four live in Maine.)

Birthday.JPG

Our first appointment was 9:00 a.m. when we met Aunt Debi for breakfast.

From there we walked to our next appointment

Can you tell that Gloria is enjoying her first pedicure?

Gloria was too short to enjoy the vibrating chair while getting her feet and toes pampered.  However, as soon as the pedicurist was finished and her pretty little toe nails were drying, she started the action.

Do you think she enjoyed it?

Deb and I were on standby, but were pleased when Tony, the owner, said they also had time to make our feet happy.

~~~
After this, Deb went back to her office, while the girls and I stayed to shop in several stores.  The Dollar Store is their favorite place to spend birthday money.  We also went to K-Mart and Goodwill – in the same mall.
Goodwill is a secondhand store.  I was pleased to find a perfect pair of sneakers for an upcoming road trip.  Jenna wasn’t sure I should buy them.  She said they looked like sneakers for an old lady.  I smiled and told her, “I am an old lady.”
~~~

After shopping we headed toward home – stopping to check on Chuck-E-Cheeses, but the parking lot was full, so we put that on hold until Gloria’s half-birthday.

~~~
They seemed to need something to do to replace that disappointment.  When I suggested ice cream, I was rewarded by squeals of delight.
Jenna’s picture was not very flattering, so I decided not to post it.    She will thank me later.  It is not always easy to get good pictures while people are eating.
~~~

As we were headed toward Jenna, Diana, and Gloria’s home, and approaching the lab where Jana’s dad works, I called to see if he had time to give four girls a tour.  It was good timing for him, so we stopped.

Jere explained another process of testing milk.  I love how intently they listened to him.  They asked some great questions too.  It was a worthwhile stop.  Thanks, Jere.

Another day of memory-making is over.

They’re Here

This time our local granddaughters are celebrating Jenna and Jana’s birthdays.

new-flavors

Shortly after I picked them up, they informed me that this is the day Rita’s was opening, so we had to stop for our favorite Ice-Custard Happiness.

Jenna (left) and I chose Mango Gelati‘s, and Gloria, Jana, and Diana chose Chocolate Blendini’s.  Yum!

I’m not sure why they chose to sit on the kitchen counter to eat them!

We have a big day planned for tomorrow, so it’s time for me to go to bed.

God can do anything, you know

far more than you could ever imagine

or guess or request in your wildest dreams!

He does it not by pushing us around

but by working within us,

his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Ephesians 3:20 MSG

An Evening of Ensemble and Jazz Music

We went to to the local middle school to see our granddaughter, Jenna, play violin and sing in the vocal ensemble.

Instead of the entire orchestra, songs were presented in ensembles.

Concert.JPG

The evening opened with a “percussion” ensemble.  The students played cans, boxes, glass, pieces of wood, etc.  It was really quite good.  I was so impressed that I forgot to take pictures of the group, plus there was a lot of moving around.

We learned in the introduction that music is to the soul what water is to the body.
