Lunch With Friends

Sunday, June 21

I’m finally catching up with photos that were put on a back burner due to wedding pictures and the Truck Rally.

It was our turn to host our “Friends Birthday Dinner.”

There are many reasons why it is nice to have our Maine granddaughter Lydia here this summer.  On this day she helped set the table, then did the serving.

Left to right:  Emma (Cookie to us), Gene, Marcy, Mark, Gerald, Joanne, me, and Cerwin.  Six of us have been friends since our teenage years, and the ladies all have birthdays in February.  Gene and Cookie joined our group when we were in our early twenties.

We always bring fun gifts for each other.

Waiting to exchange the gifts.

Holding the gifts I gave Joanne, Marcy, and Cookie – foam hand wash, a candle, and a decorative note pad.

Joanne gave us the succulent plants.  She is holding one that she was giving the person where they were going for supper.

We received some wonderful dish detergent and a tiny spatula from Marcy.

And from Cookie we received a gospel music DVD.

It was a delightful day in every way.

Anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life.

Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.

Our Yucca Plant

 6-4.JPG

In early June, I noticed that the yucca was going to bloom this year.

By the time I noticed the tall stems, they were five feet tall.

Two weeks later, I told Cerwin they must be seven feet tall.  He thought I may have exaggerated, until I stood next to the tallest one (I am 5′ 8″), reached my arm above my head (adding another foot-plus), and there was still a foot above my hand!  That’s about eight feet!

By June 23 it was one of the prettiest flowers in our memory garden.

I’m not sure where we acquired this plant, but I know I never expected this kind of beauty.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.
