Truck Rally
Saturday, June 27 & Sunday, June 28
Closing Activities
The Gabriels opened the evening with a half-hour of wonderful gospel music.
Gene and Rose Gehman (Rally Coordinators) opened the next part of the program by calling out the names of the truck show winners.
The winners of the Powder Puff Roadeo – a pickup truck competition course for women.
The pickup truck competition course for men is called Ruff & Tuff Roadeo.
The CDL Roadeo competition course winners.
The winners in the truck competition varied from antiques to new trucks, best combination, best dump, best testimony, best fleet, largest fleet, and of course best of show.
Following the awards, Bunny O’Hare gave a TFC ministry update.
The Dixie Melody Boys presented a fabulous gospel program.
I took a broad shot so you can see the beautiful Rigid Ply flatbed stage.
We never know how many people attend the gospel concert, but this appeared to be more that 1,500 people.
Earl Eby
The cleanup crew are busiest at the end of the day.
Joyce Eby
She and Earl are in charge of cleanup and do a great job of making sure the buildings are as clean as when we arrived for setup on Friday evening.
They also have some great helpers.
I missed getting pictures of some of the men who were putting tables and other supplies away.
It was a beautiful way to end the day – with a light show competition.
The winners
We were back in North Hall on Sunday morning for the Rally Celebration, which Cerwin opened at 10:30 by welcoming the audience of about 200.
The Gabriels presented the morning worship with challenging words and songs. Each of us was blessed to be there.
It was fun to have my uncle Lester there on Saturday and Sunday. He is my mother’s brother, but when people hear that we are related, they think it is through Cerwin. Don’t they look like brothers?
He and Aunt Hazel attended both gospel concerts, because the youngest singer in The Gabriels is their grandson, Derek. Derek’s mom (my cousin Diane) and her husband, Keenan were also there on Saturday night. She came back on Sunday morning, but Keenan could not be there because of his job. I wish I had thought about taking their pictures.
Lunch was catered by Country Home Caterers.
The meal, then a quick wrap-up committee meeting brought this rally to a close.
It had to be one of the best ever.
