Supper at Jere & Kristen’s House

Thursday, April 14

I kept Jesse all day while Jere & Kristen made plans for her mother’s funeral. They received a meal from a friend, and since there was a lot of food, they invited us to join their family for supper.

The boys wanted to show me their tree-climbing skills.

Jesse couldn’t reach the branch, so I lifted him up – then left him hanging.

He dropped when he could no longer hang on.

He chose the pine tree where he could reach the branches.

The girls across the driveway could not resist coming over to see what was going on. They are good friends with the boys.

After supper Jared show us his new accomplishment.

He has great balance.

Their spring flowers are in full bloom.

Meeting Daryl & Kelly

at Uncle Luke & Aunt Willamae’s house

on a cold, windy, rainy day

It sure seems to be taking long for warm, spring days to arrive this year.

I wonder if the birds are also longing for some warm, sunny days.

Cerwin, Uncle Luke, Aunt Willamae, their daughter Shirley, Kelly (hidden) and Daryl.

We knew that Daryl and Kelly were in this area (from Vanderhoof, BC, Canada) and visiting Cerwin’s Uncle Luke & Aunt Willamae who are Daryl’s grandparents.

We wanted to get together, so Willamae invited us for supper.

I was intrigued by these tiny red beet (pickled) eggs. I forget the kind of bird that laid the eggs, but it was something like a quail.

Some of you may remember that we met Kelly when flying to Vancouver in February 2009, and discovered that she was marrying Daryl (the son of Cerwin’s cousin Karen). See here

It was so much fun to spend the evening with them. We had never met Daryl, who is involved in logging and loves hunting. He and Cerwin had lots to talk about. They convinced us that we will want to visit Vanderhoof sometime.

Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It’s way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out.

Piano Recital

At Pleasant View Retirement Community

Sunday, April 10

Piano teacher Rachel Siegrist welcoming those in the audience.

Jana was the first student to play.

She did an excellent job of playing El Matador.

Acknowledging the applause with a curtsey.

Jana’s friend Renee Siegrist (granddaughter of the teacher) was the last of the twenty-four students.

She did an excellent job of playing Hungary Rapsodie Op. 410.

It was a very enjoyable afternoon.

Rachel asked each of her students to stand for a final applause.

Our family

This was the last time we got to see Kristen’s mom, Betty, (right – wearing black), as she died sometime during the night one day later.

After getting to Jere & Kristen’s for supper, I took a closeup of Jana’s wrist corsage.

There was also a bouquet of roses on the table – a gift from Jere to Kristen.

And then there were Kristen’s beautiful amaryllis.

These started with one bulb many years ago.

If you live nearby and would like a bulb, contact Kristen – or let me know. She would like to get rid of a few.

Josh was anxious to show us his antler mount from last fall. He just got it a few days ago.

Jana celebrated her birthday at a mountain cabin with friends, so we didn’t get to see her balloons.

Ian wanted to make sure we knew that Jana is not the only talented person in the family.

Nothing could make me happier than getting reports that my children continue diligently in the way of Truth!
