Old Gang & Preparing for a Party

Thursday & Friday, April 7 & 8

4-7-11 Old Gang (1)

We enjoyed breakfast with “The Old Gang” on Thursday morning.

4-7-11 Old Gang (2)

The old gang is a neat group of couples and a few widows/widowers from when the guys were young and “ran around” together.

4-7-11 Old Gang (3)

This time we met at Manheim Grill.

4-7-11 Old Gang (4)

We reminisced and talked about children, grandchildren, and travel.

4-8 (3)

The next day (Friday) Cerwin and I prepared the garage for Jenna’s Sweet Sixteen Sleep-over Party.

4-8 (10)

While her parents were surprising her with a pizza supper for the girls at their house, we decorated the garage. The preschool photo is the one I did of her in counted cross stitch. They were going roller skating before coming here for the sleepover.

4-8 (11)

4-8 (17)

4-8 (17a)

4-8 (21)

There was a lot of pink, green, and black.

4-8 (24)

We are still finding sixteens and black dots on the garage floor.

More tomorrow

He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

Titus 3:5 (New Living Translation)

His mercy crowneth all my days, and makes my cup o’erflow.

Squirrels, Birds, Flowers & Amish Buggies

April 5 to April 10

1 (1)

Our bird feeders last week.

1 (2)

Apparently the squirrels can’t read that these are “bird” feeders.

Our daffodils are in full bloom.

1 (14)

I missed the long line of Amish buggies on our road on Sunday morning because I was in our bedroom getting ready for church. I just caught the tail end when they were coming one at a time.

1 (15)

1 (16)

We enjoy watching the horses and each of their unique trotting styles.

1 (17)

When we came home during the afternoon, we met some of them going home.

1 (18)

1 (19)

I never tire of seeing them in our area. The Amish only began moving into our neighborhood in the last dozen or so years.

Driving Home from Kentucky

…and a few things around home

Sunday & Monday, April 3 & 4

2 (1)

We saw some beautiful horse farms in the Lexington area.

2 (2)

A flowering tree at a rest stop

2 (3)

Daffodils close to where we parked.

2 (5)

By suppertime we began looking for a motel, and found a newly remodeled one in West Virginia.

2 (6)

It was certainly a pleasant place to relax.

2 (7)

Monday was a nice day for driving through West Virginia and Maryland hills.

2 (9)

2 (8)

As we traveled north, we saw less and less flowers, green grass, and budding trees.

2 (10)

We even saw a bit of snow on a mountain hillside.

2 (11)

2 (12)

2 (13)

During the mid-afternoon we got off the interstate (to my delight) and to Cerwin’s delight saw a few deer.

2 (14)

2 (15)

After spending so much time on interstates during this trip, it was a feast for my eyes to be so close to farms, trees, fields, and buildings.

2 (16)

2 (17)

2 (18)

2 (19)

2 (20)

The farmers were busy in our local farmland by the time we got home…

2 (21)

…and it smelled like the country.

2 (22)

I have seen farmers spreading liquid manure like this, but it was the first time I saw it on my brothers’ farm.

2 (23)

2 (24)

The robins were out in abundance during the next few days.

2 (25)

Springtime is coming!
