Nate’s Graduation

Friday, June 10 – Part 2 of 3

The Student Oration

His proud parents were sitting behind us.

Nathan (behind the podium) waiting to receive his diploma.

A broader view of the stage, audience, and two of the large screens. The evening included several great speeches and musical selections.

Following the “Affirmation of Graduates” and the class’ induction into the Alumni Association, we sang “Manheim Central Alma Mater.” I could still sing most of the words after fifty years.

It concluded with the throwing of caps.

June 10 – Part 1 of 3

The white rose was to honor the memory of classmate – Evan M. Heiser.

Students entered two by two and stopped at a spot where they were featured on the big screens.

Each pair did their “thing” when they were featured.

There were split screens showing the graduates as they entered from two areas of the auditorium.

There were a few more than 250 graduates.

Guess who just saw themselves on the large screen.

We could rarely see Nathan as he was in the middle of a row, but I captured him in this picture (center) when he leaned front to read the evening’s program.

I Don’t Have Time For a Regular Blog Entry Tonight

It was a busy day – from very early to late. Remember this date, June 11 – when I do the entry later this week, and you will understand.

I will add one picture from last night, June 10, at Nathan’s graduation from high school.

Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.

Corn

Remember this picture from May 30 when corn was being planted in my brothers’ fields?

This is what it looked like one week later June 6.

I never tire of seeing tiny, green corn shoots coming up all over a field.

Three days later (June 9) it is eight inches tall.

A few hours after taking the pictures of the corn yesterday, we had a short-lived thunderstorm come through our area.

The water will give the corn another shot in its roots.

It is always interesting how wildlife comes out right after a rain storm.

Just before the rain, Cerwin thought that he was going to mow some yard, but just as he got to the shed where we keep the lawnmower, it began pouring. As he turned around to run toward the house, a raccoon ran toward the shed.

Keep your eyes open for God, watch for his works; be alert for signs of his presence.

Pizza Hut

On Saturday (at the auction) I learned that Jere and Kristen were meeting Roy and Deb at Pizza Hut for lunch the next day. So I invited “us” to join them.

Roy and Deb kept Ian, Jared, and Jesse for Jere and Kristen during the auction, and several days before.

After lunch – Jana and Roy moving things from one vehicle to another.

It sounds like the boys had a great time with Deb, Roy, Izzy, and some of their other critters.
