Can People Tell That You Spend Time With Jesus?

DSC_0018.JPG

What about those you met today?

Could they tell that Jesus has influenced your life?

Too Much Junk Food

My Excuses

#1. Woke up too early

3:30 a.m.

#2. Too busy

Newsletters to set up – Newsletters to correct after proofreaders had them – Newsletters to mail.

~~~
I did have high-fiber cereal for breakfast, and a small bowl of rice and vegetables for lunch – but it was downhill after that!
~~~

#3. It was his fault

Someone ~ a beloved staff person ~ brought  Wilbur Buds  to the 3:00 p.m. Communications Meeting at TFC’s International Office.

#4. I didn’t have to cook supper, and I wasn’t very hungry, because I ate about six too many Wilbur Buds.

 Cerwin went back to West Virginia to make another attempt at filling his two whitetail tags.

~~~
I checked the refrigerator for something healthy and found a small bag of leftover lettuce and onions from an overstuffed sub (yesterday’s supper), so I put a bit of salad dressing on it.
~~~

#5. Too much coffee ~ to stay awake

I didn’t feel like more coffee, or my favorite Earl Grey tea, so heated a cup of  Turkey Hill Iced Tea.  I love it hot!

Then I noticed a small bag of  Snyder’s  pretzels (cheddar cheese sandwiches).

~~~
That’s it!  My junk food blog?
~~~

Don’t miss the links to some of my favorite local-made junk food.

Take
my yoke
upon you
and
learn
from me,
for
I am gentle
and
humble in heart,
and
you will
find rest
for
your souls.

Busy Grandchildren

Tonight we kept Jere and Kristen’s children for a few hours while their parents went to Ephrata.

Jere's Children.JPG

Josh did homework.

Jana has been learning to stitch on plastic canvas.

Jere's Children (2).JPG

She has been stitching six small squares, and finished them tonight.  I stitched them together to make a tiny storage box – for money or very small things.  (I forgot to take a picture of the finished product before she took it home. )

Jere's Children (3).JPG

Ian raced cars on GameCube.

Jared is always busy!  Here he is asking grandpa to help with his take-apart hammer.

I loved Jared’s greeting when they arrived.  He shouted down the steps, to where I was in the office.  “We’re home, Grandma.”

I guess there was one that wasn’t so busy!

Five-month-old Jesse took a short nap, got a bath, drank a bottle of milk, then watched a Christmas program with me.

Mountains

Today.JPG

While enjoying my second cup of coffee yesterday, I noticed bright sunlight at an eastern window ~ which usually indicates a pretty sunrise.

Today (1).JPG

I went outside ~ barefooted and in a housecoat to capture pictures.

That’s when I noticed what the sun was doing to the mountain on our north.

Today (2).JPG

The mountain is currently drab ~ because the leaves are brown or gone ~ but not this morning!

Today (3).JPG

The entire mountain was a brilliant orange.

Cerwin is home from another hunting excursion.

He took these photos with his Nikon Coolpix 4600.

Today (4).JPG

This time he was at a cabin in Coudersport, Pennsylvania ~ where he has been hunting since 1972.

They have to park their cars here and carry luggage and supplies across the footbridge.

Today (5).JPG

The pretty stream they have to cross.

Today (6).JPG

Cerwin has been hunting with some of these guys since 1958.  That’s fifty years!  He was sixteen the first time he went to Potter County.

From 1958 until 1972 they stayed at someone’s house, then in 1971 some of the men purchased this land ~ which included a rundown cabin ~ and built this one.

Today (7).JPG

Whitetail hunting isn’t very good in this area anymore, but they have a great time just being together.

Today (8).JPG

One of the men does the cooking.  Cerwin says they have Thanksgiving every meal.

Cerwin likes to go for the weekend ~ to scout his hunting territory, and enjoy Saturday night’s bluegrass music.  Several hunters come from other cabins to listen or join in.  Dick (left) brought a banjo for Cerwin this year.  He rarely plays ~ especially a banjo ~ but loved the opportunity to join in with the old familiar tunes and gospel songs.

He chose to only hunt on Monday this year.  He saw a few doe, but no buck.

Today (9).JPG

The view from an upstairs bedroom window.

Today (10).JPG

The area where he hunts.

Wednesday he is hunting locally ~ then he is going back to West Virginia to try and fill one or both of those tags.

~~~
He has taken a three-week vacation from building chapels.  Next week it will be back to work for him!
