What happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity.

Galatians 5:22 (The Message)

Saying Goodbye To Our Minnesota Family

Friday, February 26

On the last afternoon, Jon came to the house on his four-wheeler to make sure all driveways were open around the Stauffer homestead.

Jen and their children came a bit later to say their goodbyes. She is holding Dietrich.

You may remember that we were on the same flight as Juanita on Saturday morning.

There was a beautiful sunset on our last night in Minnesota.

I read a book during our travel time called One Month to Live (http://www.onemonthtolive.com/), which reminded me that each day is a GIFT.

I am trying to remember that – taking in a deep breath each time I think about it – and thanking God for the GIFT of TODAY.

The nine days we spent in Minnesota cannot be relived – but each day was a wonderful gift that will be imbedded in our memory bank.

Wood & Donuts

Part Three

Friday, February 26

1a.jpg

The donuts are ready!

1a (1).jpg

Glazed

1a (2).jpg

Powdered

1a (3).jpg

Sugared

1a (4).jpg

The men and boys were called in for the first taste test.

1a (5).jpg

There is nothing like a fresh, warm donut.

Japheth Jr.

Cerwin

1a (8).jpg

Jesse

1a (9).jpg

Jeremiah

Everyone agreed that they were delicious!

1a (10).jpg

In the last two entries I showed the men at work stacking and splitting wood. Tonight I thought you might like to see what happens to all this wood.

1a (11).jpg

The big pieces go into this “critter” and keep Japheth and Aimee’s house warm.

1a (12).jpg

Smaller pieces…

1a (13).jpg

…are used in this stove in Bob’s shop.

1a (14).jpg

Other small pieces are stored…

1a (15).jpg

in this shed…

1a (16).jpg

…and keep Bob and Doris’ home cozy.

1a (17).jpg

So ended a busy, delicious, wonderful Friday – our last full day in Minnesota. I washed the dishes…

1a (18).jpg

…while Juanita and Monica took a deserved rest.

Splitting Wood & Preparing Donuts

Part Two

Friday, February 26

1aa.JPG

While Cerwin and the little boys stacked wood in the shed, Jesse and Bob split wood from another pile.

1aa (2).JPG

1aa (3).JPG

I liked this one – when Jesse’s axe got stuck.

1aa (4).JPG

After finishing the pile that had been stacked near the shed, Cerwin and the boys began moving the newly split wood into the shed.

1aa (11).JPG

Back in the house, the donuts are rising…

1aa (12).JPG

…and glaze is being prepared

1aa (14).JPG

Lynne wanted to watch aunt Juanita, but got sidetracked with the dish rack.

1aa (13).JPG

Loraine asked to help stir the glaze.

1aa (15).JPG

While waiting for the donuts to rise, Monica mended a few of Jesse’s socks.

1aa (16).JPG

1aa (17).JPG

Lynne was retrieved from the sink top and enjoyed a spot next to great grandma.

1aa (18).JPG

I am starting to get hungry for a donut!
