Their Eyes

Cabela’s – March 10

1a (1).jpg

The other week Cerwin needed to exchange something he purchased at Cabela’s, so we decided to go after work, enjoy the drive, and have supper in their restaurant.

I have taken lots of pictures of the menagerie of animals, birds, and fish, so decided to take pictures of eyes this time. It gave me something interesting to do while Cerwin shopped for hunting supplies.

If you want to guess which animal the eye belongs to, scroll down slowly, because I do have the name under each photo.

Grandchildren Happenings

…since we returned from Minnesota

We attended our local middle school where Diana participated in the science fair.

She chose to do a test on which fishing line was the strongest.

It had been a month since Abigail (center) saw Nathaniel, so last weekend she convinced her sister Hannah to make the ten-hour drive from Maine to Pennsylvania.

Before they left – and I had time to put the trundle bed away – Jere and Kristen’s youngest boys, Jesse (top), Ian (on bed) and Jared (floor) were here for several hours each day during the early part of this week. Jere was on a business trip, and Kristen spent time in the hospital with a handicapped man for whom they have chosen to be responsible.

Outdoor Happenings

…near our home during the past two weeks.

March 1 to 18

Tonight.jpg

It’s good to be home and see airplanes in the sky, rather than be in the airplane – and I love to fly.

Tonight (1).jpg

The trees in this sunset look so familiar.

Tonight (2).jpg

We were home only one day when I saw this familiar scene – farm machinery across the road, even if it is a manure spreader.

Tonight (3).jpg

A young driver failed to make the sharp turn at Jere and Kristen’s house last weekend – taking out one of their pine trees.

Tonight (4).jpg

When I looked out the window the other day, the fields were full of seagulls. I don’t know if they were migrating, or just came inland for all the goodies they find in our fields.

Tonight (5).jpg

…and we live about three hours from the ocean.

Tonight (6).jpg

Tonight (7).jpg

Tonight (8).jpg

Last weekend we had several cool, rainy days, eventually melting any snow that remained.

Tonight (9).jpg

Our winter was over quickly, and within days the crocus were blooming.

Tonight (10).jpg

The past few days have been glorious, with temperatures in the sixties.

Tonight (11).jpg

I always miss my mother when the crocus bloom, as they were a gift for our tenth wedding anniversary in September 1973.

When she handed the small bag to me with ten (kind of ugly) crocus bulbs, she said, “This is not a pretty gift, but they will be pretty in spring.”

She never saw them bloom, because she died on March 16, 1974, after a short illness and complications from cancer.
