June 26 & 27 ~ Final Entry – Part 9

The evening program opened with gospel music by the Schwartz Family from Michigan

Then it was trophy time.

Gene and Rose Gehman (Rally Coordinators) announced the winners.

Truck awards – for those with the best kept trucks

The trucks are judged on a point system on a variety of things – including the inside of the truck. Having a high score on the exterior may be lowered by an unkept interior.

The Mark Trammell Quartet closed the evening program with their wonderful brand of Southern Gospel Music. They have fabulous harmony.

1 (402).JPG

There was an audience of about 1,800

1 (419).JPG

The light show competition followed the program – about 8:45 p.m.

Winners John Rissler and Jeff Brown

1 (441).JPG

During the light show, I noticed a photo op when I saw these two looking out the sleeper window of this truck.

1 (443).JPG

I expect it was their dad’s truck.

Sunday Morning – Rally Celebration

~~~
1 (2).JPG
The Schwartz Family was back for morning worship. The audience of two hundred was blessed by their testimonies and country-style gospel music.
1 (64).JPG
Following lunch the committee met for a wrap-up session.
1 (66).JPG
There were few complications during the day, so we were standing in prayer to praise God for this and for His protection, as there is potential for accidents with many people (especially children) and trucks.
Because of the number of trucks we must consider rerouting the parade and remind drivers that they cannot be careless about the rules of the road just because it is a parade.
Gene asked for a response on Saturday night. Should we keep the parade? We received an overwhelming response to keep the parade.
~~~

One of our grandchildren had my camera and captured a few silhouettes following lunch. I liked them, and thought they were a nice way to close the Truck Rally pictures.

I think these last two photos are also Schwartz Family children.

So ends another wonderful Rally Weekend.

Pedal Pull

When you got near this course you could hear George calling, “Pull, pull, pull…”

The weights could be changed to heavier or lighter, depending on your age.

Jesse’s parents bought him a pedal tractor at the main auction.

Our son Jere tried his hand at auctioneering at the children’s auction because Donald Groff had a funeral to attend. Jere said he is going to keep his day job.

1 (14).JPG

Jesse and Forgotten Friends was a big hit with the children and many parents.

1 (15).JPG

Forgotten friends cares for reptiles and snakes that have been injured, or they have gotten too large for an owner to care for.

At the end of the program he reminds the children that just as each reptile and snake is uniquely made by God so has God created each of them to be a unique person with a special purpose.

There was a long line of children waiting to touch this snake at the end of the program.

Happy Birthday

Roy

This is the only photo of Roy that I have with us (we’re on a trip). Roy is not the reptile – he is the one behind it!

We Love You, Roy.

Truck Rally

Saturday Afternoon – Inside a New Kenworth

June 26 ~ Part 7

1 (215).JPG

When walking through the vendor building, I stopped to visit our friend and Kenworth salesman, Bill Burns. I asked if I could see inside the new truck he had in the parking lot.

1 (214).JPG

He said that I could, and came along to tell me about it. This is the sleeper.

1 (212).JPG

When we arrived there was a driver inside, so I listened as Bill answered his questions.

1 (213).JPG

1 (216).JPG

1 (220).JPG

Bill demonstrated the GPS unit.

When I told him that I would like to buy it, he said I could have it for $128,000.00. (I guess I will have to save my pennies a bit longer.)

Truck Rally

Saturday Morning – Return of the Parade of Trucks

June 26 ~ Part 5

1 (691).JPG

After the last truck went by, I had a few minutes to wait for the return of the parade, so took some pictures of my surroundings.

1 (692).JPG

1 (694).JPG

Then I saw the chapel and knew I needed to prepare for the return of 185 trucks.

1 (696).JPG

From this location on the route, you can see some of the beautiful Lebanon County countryside.
