One More Post Before New York City

More Hunting Success

&

Meeting a Facebook Friend

Tuesday, November 30

Yesterday while we were enjoying New York City, we kept getting calls and texts from our family who were in the woods.

1 (3)

This morning Diana and her dad stopped in to show me the four-point buck she shot in York County (PA).

1 (2)

She chose to hunt instead of going to New York City, and I expect she is glad she went hunting.

3 (3)

This afternoon after Cerwin, Jere, and Josh arrived home from Wellsboro (PA), I got to see their animal harvest. Jere shot a coyote and Josh a four-point. Cerwin has his Pennsylvania tags full, but enjoyed being with Josh, as he still needs to be accompanied by an adult.

3 (1)

Jesse was not sure he liked either one.

3 (2)

The farmer was pleased to have one coyote eliminated from his woods.

~~~
This afternoon I received a call from Allen Miller – husband of Karen who is a Facebook friend – because he was delivering at Hilltop Acres.
~~~

2 (1)

I had never met him, but easily recognized the Troyer truck at the dock.

2 (2)

What fun to meet him. The employee whom he told that I was coming , said, “Oh, I know her. I usually answer the phone when she orders tapioca.”

2 (3)

He promised me that he will bring his wife, Karen, along the next time so the four of us can go out for supper. I’m counting on that Karen.

Jeff & Chris’ House for Lunch

Sunday, November 28

Jeff and Chris hosted a youth party for Jenna on Saturday evening, and had some leftovers – plus some Thanksgiving leftovers – so after church invited me to join them for lunch.

Cerwin was not home, because he, Jere, and Josh left early in the morning to go to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, in preparation for whitetail hunting on Monday and Tuesday.

After lunch we played Spoons – a fast-paced game of trying to get four identical cards.

The first one to get four identical cards grabs a spoon. You will notice that three of us are playing, but there are only two spoons – which means someone looses.

This is Chris laughing because she and Diana had grabbed spoons without me noticing. I was still frantically flipping cards.

Gloria was taking the pictures.

While we played, Gloria experimented with my camera. This is finger jello.

Her next focus was me.

Then the rest wanted new portraits for my refrigerator.

Jenna, especially wanted a new one since she recently changed from glasses to contact lens.

Gloria wanted a picture with their new puppy, Cassie.

It was after church on Sunday morning that Kristen called me to see if I was interested in going to New York City on Monday – instead of babysitting their three little boys.

There had been a cancelation of four people on the trip due to a funeral.

Chris, Jenna, and Gloria were excited to go, but Diana wanted to go whitetail hunting with her dad and brother Nathan. So that still left one seat.

I asked Kristen who would keep the boys, and she said that Deb (our daughter) and Roy were willing to come for them on Sunday and bring them back on Monday evening. Now how nice is that!

I said, “Of course I will go along!”

I have been to New York City several times, but never to just walk the streets and go shopping. Some of the ladies had tickets to see the Radio City Music Hall “Christmas Spectacular”, so after getting home from Jeff and Chris’ I purchased an online ticket very close to where the other ladies were sitting.

~~~
Tonight I plan to enter the first in a series of posts from yesterday’s New York trip.
I just got home from a fabulous trip to New York City. We visited Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, Macy’s (just walked inside the door), Top of the Rock (observation deck on top of Rockefeller Center), rode the ferris wheel in Toys R Us, and walked miles. Oh what fun to be with our daughters-in-law and three granddaughters.
Thanksgiving Day
Thursday, November 25
There was just enough sleet in the morning to remain on the ground until afternoon temperatures melted it.
Following an inspiring Thanksgiving Day service at our church – filled with testimonies and praise from our congregation – we went to Jere and Kristen’s for lunch.
