Our Trip to NYC
Our third stop was Toys R Us – mostly to ride the ferris wheel
Deciding that we were all going to ride the ferris wheel – and looking for the ticket desk.
Kristen, Jana, Gloria, and Jenna rode this car.
Looking down from the car that Chris and I rode.
I kept trying to get a picture of the others, but their car was exactly opposite of ours. When they were at the top, we were at the bottom.
Those are quite the lollipops!
Our car after we got out and the next people got in.
There was even an M & M car.
A few pictures of the ferris wheel.
We came the whole way to New York City to buy Nerds! ![]()
A cute mushroom display of gummies
Kristen was looking for something in the Lego section
A Lego Statue of Liberty
This dinosaur ruled the Lego section, even though it is not made from Legos.
Those are quite the “toe nails!”
He kept moving, so it was easy to get a variety of pictures.
And of course there was a large Geoffrey the Giraffe. This one had a person inside and was inviting children to sit on his lap.
~~~
From here we walked to Macy’s
This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?”
Our Trip to NYC
After leaving the M & M Store we saw lots of Disney critters standing around, so the girls wanted to pose with them.
After this one asked for money, we walked by the others.
New York City cabs are everywhere – which is nice if you need a cab.
Gloria asked if it was yellow cab day in New York. ![]()
Then we were there – Times Square
I have been to New York City several times, but have never put my feet on the ground at Times Square.
The reporter – talking to the man who is seated with his back to my camera – was walking around asking if anyone had any money questions. I wonder what show they were doing. I bet Cerwin would have had a question for them.
It will be interesting to watch the crystal ball drop (by TV) on New Year’s Eve, because I now have a better idea of where it is located.
~~~
From here we went to the huge Toys R Us store.

The M & M Store

Our Trip to NYC
After arriving in the city, we seemed to automatically separate into groups with each going their own way. Our only guideline was to be back at the same spot by 7:00 p.m. if we wish to get a ride home on the bus.
Our first stop was the M & M store.
There were tubes of M & M’s.
Every color and flavor

Regular and peanut-filled
The girls had fun checking on their M & M mood.
Gloria
She was blue – cool and stylish
Jana was maroon – You’ve really got sincerity down pat
Jenna was Electric Green – Your style will never go out of style.
There were M & M’s around every corner and on all three floors.
These ladies were shopping for M & M boxers.
Would your husband wear these?
The M & M Statue of Liberty
The entrance to the ladies bathroom
More tubes of chocolate treats
Shopping
The girls decided to crowd into this photo booth for a picture
Silliness
Jana weighing her candies
Posing
Looking down on a New York street.
It was interesting to see this in New York when I usually see these kind of ads nearer home – Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Jenna with her purchases
Then we were down the escalator and on to the next place…
Times Square

More about that tomorrow night

New York City Here We Come!
Monday, November 29
When we arrived at Vertex Mechanical, Inc., Stevens, PA, shortly after 6:30 a.m., we were invited to have coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
A few of the early arrivers for Tressa’s fortieth birthday party trip.
Tressa (left) is the one whose birthday we were celebrating.
I understand that she has always wanted to make this trip, so her sister Yvonne planned this day for her and twenty-four of her family and friends.
~~~
Before I go any farther, I should tell you why I was going along on this mother/daughter/friend bus trip.
When Tressa’s sister, Yvonne, learned over the weekend that four people had to cancel due to a funeral, she sent an email to those who had reservations. Our daughter-in-law Kristen is a good friend of Tressa and had planned to take their daughter, Jana, so received the email.
She thought of our other daughter-in-law Chris and their three daughters. Chris, Jenna, and Gloria were excited to go along. However, Diana did not want to give up her hunting trip.
There was still one seat left. Kristen thought of me, but I was her babysitter. So she called our daughter Deb to see if she would keep the three little boys if I was interested in going along. Deb said she would gladly do that, so Kristen called me after church on Sunday. I said, “Of course I will go along.”
Deb and Roy – THANK YOU, THANK YOU for making the day possible for me.
~~~
Getting a hot drink and donuts or muffins to take on the bus.
Pretty paper plates
Boarding the coach. Notice the two boxes on the ground. Each of us was supposed to choose a bag before entering the bus.
Inside was a NYC map of the area where we would be spending the day, an itinerary, and paperwork for a few games.
Also, gum, water, and a peanut snack bar.
Shortly after departure each of us was asked to introduce ourself, tell the others how we know Tressa (upper right), and share a story about something new we had done in 2010. In this picture Kristen is sharing.
Chris’ turn.
Tressa was the last one to tell us about herself.
Yvonne, Tressa’s sister, told a story about Tressa – starting with her childhood – using items to illustrate the story.
We were supposed to remember each of the twenty-five items for the next game.
We then filled in a bingo sheet with the items we could remember.
The winner (the one who remembered the most items) received a choice of items that Yvonne had in a basket. She then gave us the list of all twenty-five items so we could fill in our bingo sheet.
These pretty napkins were my prize for winning the second round of bingo.
The morning sun prevented me from taking a very good photo of the group on the bus, but you can still get an idea of what our bus load of women and girls looked like.
Our granddaughters (Gloria, Jana, and Jenna) chose the back seat.
After a few hours we came into heavy New Jersey traffic near Newark Airport.
It wasn’t long before we saw the skyline of Manhattan.
Then we were there, looking up at the buildings towering above us.
More tomorrow evening.
One More Post Before New York City
More Hunting Success
&
Meeting a Facebook Friend
Tuesday, November 30
Yesterday while we were enjoying New York City, we kept getting calls and texts from our family who were in the woods.
This morning Diana and her dad stopped in to show me the four-point buck she shot in York County (PA).
She chose to hunt instead of going to New York City, and I expect she is glad she went hunting.
This afternoon after Cerwin, Jere, and Josh arrived home from Wellsboro (PA), I got to see their animal harvest. Jere shot a coyote and Josh a four-point. Cerwin has his Pennsylvania tags full, but enjoyed being with Josh, as he still needs to be accompanied by an adult.
Jesse was not sure he liked either one.
The farmer was pleased to have one coyote eliminated from his woods.
~~~
This afternoon I received a call from Allen Miller – husband of Karen who is a Facebook friend – because he was delivering at Hilltop Acres.
~~~
I had never met him, but easily recognized the Troyer truck at the dock.
What fun to meet him. The employee whom he told that I was coming , said, “Oh, I know her. I usually answer the phone when she orders tapioca.”
He promised me that he will bring his wife, Karen, along the next time so the four of us can go out for supper. I’m counting on that Karen.
