Because the boys have been collecting stones on our walks I decided to look for a rock tumbler…

Ian could hardly wait to get home and begin the tumbling process.

Walking With Hannah, Ian, Jared, and Jesse

Tuesday to Thursday, July 5-7

7-5-11 (5)

One the the things we did each morning and evening while the three little boys were here was walk to the farm.

7-5-11 (8)

7-5-11 (13)

7-5-11 (18)

7-5-11 (20)

When the heifers saw us, they kicked up some dust as they came running.

7-5-11 (25)

Having fun making evening shadows.

7-5-11 (23)

 7-5-11 (28)

They boys didn’t let us get by the heifers without sitting and watching them for awhile.

7-5-11 (30)

7-5-11 (34)

They loved feeding them grass.

7-5-11 (33)

7-5-11 (42)

On the way home they often picked wild flowers.

7-5-11 (2)

Each was pleased with his bouquet.

7-6-11 (1)

The next morning we did it all over again. By now they were into finding rocks and stones.

7-6-11 (4)

A stone in Jesse’s shoe.

7-6-11 (7)

They soon learned that Queen Anne’s Lace is my favorite wild flower.

7-6-11 (8)

7-6-11 (12)

Heading home

7-6-11 (15)

Ready to go for an evening walk.

7-6-11 (20)

7-6-11 (26)

7-6-11 (28)

Partway through our walk Jared discovered he was wearing two different shoes.

7-6-11 (30)

7-6-11 (32)

7-6-11 (68)

Throwing stones into the swampy pond.

7-6-11 (69)

7-6-11 (80)

Jared has a shirt full of stones while Jesse and Ian are satisfied with one special stone. Ian found one that looked like it had been in a rock tumbler because it was smooth and shiny.

7-6-11 (73)

They are anxious to see the heifers again.

7-6-11 (87)

7-6-11 (88)

7-6-11 (91)

When Ian saw his great aunt Brenda (who lives at the farm), he wanted to show her his special stone. She and my brother Steve have several young women (and a young family) living with them who need a place to live due to some kind of struggle. The childen in the pool belong to the young women who live in the house.

7-6-11 (95)

The moon is already high in the sky.

7-6-11 (96a) (2)

When older cousin Nathan came by – heading to our house – he challenged the boys to keep up with him as we were almost home. They had lots of fun. At this point he was barely moving because Jesse was running beside him.

7-6-11 (93)

The setting sun gave us a beautiful sky.

7-7-11 (3)

The next morning – before our walk – these four cut some mint tea.

7-7-11 (4)

We took the stone, field road to the barn – to Jesse’s delight – because he liked checking out the manure pit.

7-7-11 (6)

Hay/Straw wagons

7-7-11 (7)

A storage shed for cow feed.

7-7-11 (10)

A stone in Jesse’s shoe.

7-7-11 (8)

Pretty sunflowers next to the barn.

Water Guns & A New Vehicle in Our Driveway

July 4 & 5

7-4-11 Water Guns (1)

Jesse and Ian prepare their water guns for a battle with their cousin Hannah.

7-4-11 Water Guns (2)

This was the day I thought it might be a good idea to invite Hannah to stay until the end of August.

7-4-11 Water Guns (3)

She had plans to go to Florida for the summer, but those plans fell apart, and I knew she was disappointed.

7-4-11 Water Guns (4)

Jere and Kristen are quite busy preparing her mother’s house for public auction at the end of July, and if Hannah is here, we can offer to keep their children more often so Kristen is free to work on the house. Hannah is trained in daycare, and is quite good with young children.

7-4-11 Water Guns (5)

The boys love Hannah, so Cerwin and I were pleased when she and her parents agreed she could stay until Labor Day weekend when we plan to go to Maine.

7-4-11 Water Guns (6)

While photographing the water battle, I noticed that our memory garden was full of gooseneck flowers.

7-4-11 Water Guns (7)

Later in the day I watched this indigo bunting bathing, and quickly retrieved my camera. By then it had its back to me, then flew away.

7-5-11 (2)

We have a new vehicle in our driveway these days.

7-5-11 (6)

Josiah got a job in our area for the summer – before going to welding training in Florida (in October).

7-5-11 (8)

It is incredibly fun to have two young adult grandchildren in our house right now.

7-5-11 (9)

I like watching him leave for work each morning.

I’m going to try to include them in photo entries (including Nate & Abby) as often as possible, because I know their Maine parents must feel like their house is empty after three of their six children moved to Pennsylvania the same weekend.

We began our evening with a meal and birthday party for our recent birthdays. Elizabeth was 25, Jesse 4, and Roy 48 (I didn’t have those numbers, so used sixty.)

The Myers’ Family

The Day After the Wedding

July 3, 2011

After church on Sunday morning it seemed like a good time to take individual photos, because each person was dressed up, and the sky was overcast.

My life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

Acts 20:24 (New Living Translation)

~~~
Wonderful grace of Jesus,
Greater than all my sin;
How shall my tongue describe it,
Where shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden,
Setting my spirit free,
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.
