Maine Bound

 ~ Thursday, September 2 ~

We were out of the house early (5:30 a.m.) to begin our nine-and-a-half hour drive to Maine.

I love driving in the early morning to watch the sunrise.

We had a good day, and the trip seemed to go quickly.

We took two rest stops – one for breakfast (New York), then another for gas and a snack (Massachusetts).

While waiting for the restroom in Massachusetts, I met a young mother with three children, and during our conversation (because the youngest was talking about flushing the toilet), the mother said this is the first time they were “flushing” in five days because they were “hurricane refugees.” Their home is on the Connecticut coast. They were heading to someone’s summer home further inland.

About this time I called our daughter Diane to tell her we were entering Brunswick, and that we would be at their house shortly before 3:00 p.m.

Shortly after arriving, we went to Thomas Point Beach (about two miles away) to register for the Bluegrass Festival that starts on Friday. On the way back to the Myers’, these wild turkeys ran across the road in front of us.

DSC_0060

We weren’t sure how many there were, but as we waited, they ran out of the brush and onto the lane to our right – one at a time.

…until there were five. Then we saw movement farther in the lane and noticed several more.

We spent our evening relaxing, enjoying the comings and goings of the five grandchildren, and visiting with Mark and Diane.

Saying Goodbye to Hannah

Wednesday, August 31

Farewell to Hannah 8-31 (1)

Because this is Hannah’s last full day of her summer stay with us, she and I had manicures and pedicures before going to The Brick House (Manheim) for lunch.

Entering from the garden side.

2 Farewell to Hannah 8-31 (12)

We chose to eat outside because it was a beautiful afternoon.

Jeff is building a new truck – out of two trucks – and was anxious to show it to us.

Farewell to Hannah 8-31 (21)

I especially like the bed – stainless steel and wood. Nathan (Jeff & Chris’ son) did a fabulous job on the steel fabricating.

Farewell to Hannah 8-31 (24)

Building a truck fascinates me.

God’s wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his purposes. You don’t find it lying around on the surface.

1 Corinthians 2:7 (The Message)

I love learning and searching for the wisdom of God.
