~ Hunting & Thanksgiving ~
The hunters got back last night after a very rainy hunting trip.
Dwight, Gene, Jeff, Nate’s nice spike, Nate, Joram and Jordan. The other two hunters, Marlin and Denny were not at the lodge when Cerwin took this photo.
Nate was the only one who got a deer. Several of the guys will go back to West Virginia in another week and a half to try again.
The guys enjoyed watching Dave and Sandy’s newest litter of puppies. Cerwin said they laughed when one pup was bitting another puppies ear. He hung on and the other pup squealed and squealed. Sounds like a brother and sister fighting.

This morning while watching the birds, I noticed a squirrel under the feeders. I think it must be a female who just came from the “squirrel tail” hair dresser.
That is one pretty tail.
I keep hoping to capture a picture of the cardinal, but have to settle for the finches who frequent the feeders. The cardinal flys away everytime I get close to the window.
After an encouraging Thanksgiving praise service at church this morning, we went to Jere and Kristen’s for lunch.
The tables were beautifully set when we arrived.
There were only sixteen of us today, as Mark and Diane’s family live in Maine (one is in Florida), and Roy and Deb went to a dinner with his family.
Jesse made this turkey at the Ladies’ Fellowship meetings that Kristen attends.
Jana decorated these cute cupcakes.
Mashed potatoes with butter, a drumstick, and peas and carrots.
These two roses were in memory of the two grandma’s who are enjoying Thanksgiving in Heaven.
Kristen’s mom, Betty, and Mary Jane, the neighbor woman who Jeff and Chris’ family cared for and adopted as their mother/grandmother.
A cute fall decoration.
Kristen and Jere filling the water glasses.
When they said it was time for lunch we each looked for our name card the girls made with a Creative Memories Cricut.

More tomorrow night.
Be cheerful no matter what
Pray all the time
Thank God no matter what happens.
This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Morning Rain
I looked for more beauty during this morning’s rain.
This afternoon was overcast and the temperature dropped several degrees.
It was a good day to drink hot tomato soup for lunch.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Psalm 136:1 (New Living Translation)

Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good;
his love is eternal.

Then it Rained
And Rained
This has been an incredibly rainy day – and I can hear it raining as I make this entry.
I notice on Facebook that it is also raining in surrounding states, making the opening days of deer hunting quite frustrating. Cerwin said their group of hunters came inside before noon today, then stayed in the lodge (watching hunting videos) because there was a flood watch in their area of West Virginia.
Our grandson Nathan is the only one who got a buck, but you will have to wait a few days to see a picture. They are in the no cell phone area of the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope (GBT) where there is a 13,000-square-mile section known as the Quiet Zone – meaning there is no WiFi or cell service.
Our trees glistened with rain drops that looked like little jewels.
There were rain puddles in our yard where rain puddles don’t belong.
I had fun trying to capture large drops of water.
It was a good day for drinking hot coffee.
Run with endurance the race God has set before us.

~ A Praying Dog ~
Our friends Stephen and Brooksyne Weber posted this on their daily devotional – dailyencouragement.net.
This is Stephen’s description of the photo. Brooksyne knelt to pray on Saturday morning and shortly thereafter Mollie joined her. (This is not a staged photo – I just happened to look downstairs and caught this on camera). It looks like our older dog Roxie chose to “rest in the Lord”!

A Rainy Day
We had quite a different sunrise than yesterday – there was no sunshine.
The day was dark and dreary, and looked like twilight most of the time – and rained off and on.
~~~
I love a rainy day!
Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life.
Certainly, goodness and mercy will stay close to me all the days of my life.
A Day of Rest
~ Oh, How I needed a Day of Rest. ~
There was a pretty sunrise, but clouds were moving in – getting ready for rain that is supposed to be coming tonight and the next few days.
Josh and his car.
This was taken by Jere this morning and is posted on his FaceBook page.
The jeans that were cut off Josh.
I went to see Josh after lunch, because I didn’t have a chance to hug him since the accident – as I had his little brothers while he was in the hospital. Kristen was looking at the items that were cut off Josh when he was in the ambulance.
I came home and watched the birds for awhile.
They were quite busy.
I think they know rain is coming.
Then I relaxed all afternoon by doing counted cross-stitch and watching Christmas movies. (Cerwin is in West Virginia hunting.)
My favorite was on the Hallmark Channel – A Dog Named Christmas. If you like animals, you will enjoy it. It is a great family movie.
