The Sky

From Sunrise to Sunset

1 (3)

God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day…

11-59

and the lesser light to rule the night.

Genesis 1:16

1 (1)

The sky has been so interesting the past few days.

1 (2)

I love the sky.

1 (4)

It is always changing.

1 (5)

Never the same.

LORD, only you are God.

You made the sky and the highest heavens and everything in them.

Do you know how the clouds hang in the sky?

This is just one of the amazing works of the one who knows everything.

 Job 37:16

3 (4)

When I look at the sky, which you have made,

at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places

what are human beings, that you think of them;

mere mortals, that you care for them?

3 (9)

For as long as Earth lasts,

planting and harvest, cold and heat, Summer and winter,

day and night will never stop.

Jesus answered,

When you people see the sunset,

you know what the weather will be.

If the sky is red, you say we will have good weather.

Matthew 16:2

3 (10)

Early in the morning you say, It is going to rain,

because the sky is red and dark.

You can predict the weather by looking at the sky,

You are chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, people who belong to God. You were chosen to tell about the excellent qualities of God, who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Hunting Success

~ For Jere and Diana ~

~~~
We had six hunters in the woods today with three successful results.
~~~

Delmar-20111128-00051  1c Jere

I heard from Jere first. He sent a photo of his nine-point by cell phone early this morning. He and Cerwin are hunting in north central Pennsylvania.

1 (2)  1128111040_0001

Diana was the other successful hunter.

Before filling her Pennsylvania buck tag with this nice four-point, she shot a button buck which fills her doe tag.

She is hunting with her dad, Jeff, and brothers Jordan and Nate between southeastern and south central Pennsylvania.

~~~
Congratulations, Jere and Diana!
God was pleased to have all of himself live in Christ
God was also pleased to bring everything on earth and in heaven back to himself through Christ.
He did this by making peace through Christ’s blood sacrificed on the cross.
Colossians 1:19-20 (GOD’S WORD Translation)
God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ,
and through him God reconciled everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
Thanksgiving Evening
~ Friday Morning ~
1a (1)
These four convinced us that Thanksgiving would not be complete unless they came to our house overnight. I made the boys a bed on the living room floor with a few comforters and blankets. Gloria slept on the couch. They liked this setup so they could all be in the same room.
1a (2)
Jere told me that their three wanted to watch Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas Special, so I made sure the popcorn, drink, and beds were ready by 8 o’clock.
It was quite cute.
However, I think my favorite was Happiness is a Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown, which followed.
Poor Linus was trying to give up his blanket before grandma came to visit. But, the picture above shows the end result. He just couldn’t do it.
1b (1)
I was awakened at 5:30 on Friday morning when I heard two little voices in our bedroom saying, “Can we get up Grandma?”
Before long they called me to come to see their train of dominoes.
1b (2)
They wanted me watch them fall.
2
…and they did – everyone.
I took them home about 4 p.m. The house seemed so quiet after there was no silliness, game competition, and questions.
3 (1)
It was fun watching three noisy blue jays competing for seeds that were on the ground. I never did get a photo of all three.
3 (2)
I love seeing downy woodpeckers. They beautify our bird feeders.
Somehow Diana avoided my lens. I didn’t get even one picture of her. This is from earlier this year.
Josh
Several of you asked how he is doing. He is doing quite well. We are grateful to the Lord for sparing his life in the accident last week. Every test has been good. The doctor wants to do some tests again in six weeks – the time it takes for a body to heal. They are still puzzled as to why he blacked out. He is supposed to walk on a regular basis until then. Kristen is pleased to have a walking partner.
Chris 11-11
After I posted her birthday a few weeks ago, Chris thought it was time for a new picture, so I obeyed her wishes.
9 (4)
We spent the afternoon visiting and watching football. It looks like Jeff is sleeping, but he did manage to watch the game.
9 (3a)
These three were watching football and behaving quite well when I whispered to Josh to stir up some trouble with Jenna. (Isn’t that what grandmas are supposed to do?)
9 (2)
So he gave her a wet willy by wetting his finger and sticking it in her ear.
9 (3)
That was fun!
Carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith
By praying in the Holy Spirit,
Staying right at the center of God’s love,
Keeping your arms open and outstretched,
Ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ.
This is the unending life, the real life!
Jude 1:20-21 (The Message)
I love this verse!
Build in the holy faith
Pray in the Holy Spirit
Stay in the center of God’s love.
Keep your arms open and outstreatched – ready for the mercy of our Master Jesus Christ
This is the unending life
The real life!
Mocha Punch
Pictured in previous post. I have a request for this recipe.
6 cups water
1/2 cup instant chocolate mix – I use Nestle Quick
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup instant coffee granules
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
1/2 gallon chocolate ice cream
Bring water to a boil (I microwave for about 8 minutes). Add chocolate mix, sugar, and coffee granules. Stir until dissolved. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
About 20 minutes before serving: Put cooled mixture in a punch bowl, add the ice cream in scoops. Stir occasionally until the ice cream is mostly melted. If desired, have whipped cream available so guests can add it to their glass or cup of mocha.
~~~

I adapted this for individual servings

We have several grandsons and their friends who come to our house to hang out in the “man cave.” They love this, but since I never know when they will want some. I make a batch of the water, chocolate, sugar, and coffee mixture, place it in a plastic pitcher and store in our refrigerator. I also keep a box of half chocolate/half vanilla ice cream in the freezer. When they want a mocha, they place several scoops of ice cream in a cup or glass, then add a few tablespoons of the liquid mixture and stir until the ice cream is melted.

Warning this is addictive!

Ian wrote a prayer that he wanted to read before the meal. Jere asked everyone to close their eyes while he read the prayer. Gloria did well – Jared has his eyes shut, but needed a drink – and Jesse is peeking.
