Our Trip to Canaan, NY
Friday, September 8
Our first stop on Friday afternoon was the grade school where granddaughters Gloria and Diana attend.
It was the best place to meet Nate and Jordan’s bus – who were going along. Our daughter-in-law, Chris, took the girls home.
I spent most of the five-hour drive reading and studying for a future presentation, so both boys were pleased to have a computer.
You can see by the reflection, that Jordan was playing Sorry.
There were plenty of reminders to pray for our nation’s truck drivers as we traveled Interstates 81 and 84.
It was a beautiful afternoon.
We saw close to fifty deer. Half of them were at a prison field in New York where we usually see a large herd in the late afternoon. The others were seen in small groups.
We especially enjoyed looking for deer during the one-hour drive on the Taconic Parkway – most of which was made in the dark. The boys wanted me to get a photo, but every time we saw one close to the road, there was another car right in back of us, making stopping impossible.
We were glad to easily find Chatham Travel Lodge (photo by Jordan) where we had reservations for two nights. It is a neat little (twelve-room) motel, nestled on a hillside overlooking beautiful Catskill mountain ranges.
