A Meal From Our Niece Amy

| Family

Monday, November 10 Everyone should have a friend and neighbor like our niece Amy. Her thoughtfulness made me wonder why I didn’t think of taking a meal to my sister Nancy when their family went through a stressful situation lately. And when Nancy heard what her daughter did for us and Jere and Kristen on Monday, she said, […]

Birthday Supper For Chris

| Family

October 22, 2014 Bulls Head was her choice of restaurant for this year’s birthday meal. Cerwin and I arrived about ten minutes before Jeff and Chris, and oriented ourselves to the style of an English Pub. I love that our children like to choose unique places to eat. An outside heater went on shortly after […]

She has been ill since late August – throwing up most of what she eats. She has had almost every test possible for her digestive system. Each has been negative. At the request of one specialist, an MRI was ordered, and on Wednesday, November 5, we learned that it revealed a mass in her brain […]

Cutting Down The Grandpa Tree

| Family, Farm Related

Monday, October 13 We call this the “Grandpa Tree” because our great-grandfather planted it in 1889 – making it 125 years old. Due to lightening strikes and grubs the old silver maple had deteriorated and needed to come down. This is our family homestead – the place my great-great grandpa bought for my great grandpa. Consequently it is where my […]

Update On Mother High

She improves slightly each day. Yesterday she ate her meals in bed – today she went to the dining room. She spent yesterday in a nightgown – today she was in a dress. The therapists are pleased with her strength. The nurses do less and less as she transfers from bed to her wheelchair. It […]

Wednesday Evening, October 1We enjoyed supper at Landis Homes with Cerwin’s sister Doris, her husband, Bob, Cerwin’s mother, and her brother John. For those who don’t have Facebook and receive my daily updates on Mother: I spent the day with her – 9 AM to 4:30 PM. I was honored to have that time with her – alone – while the others had to go to work. I did counted cross-stitch when I wasn’t attending to her. […]

She fell and broke her right hip yesterday. She also has about a dozen staples from a laceration on top of her head. She thinks a closing door caught her walker and knocked her against a brick entrance wall. She was going the outside way to the area of Landis Homes that houses the mailboxes. She […]

Sunday Afternoon, September 21 As we exited the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Denver (PA) – on the way home from Biker Sunday – I realized that we were going to miss the afternoon reception for Kurt and Ali if we parked the chapel at the TFC Office near Marietta first. Cousin’s Week ~ Friday

Friday, August 22 This was another stay-at-home-day as we prepared a spa and meal for the final event of the week. My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
