Do You Ever Take Sunrises For Granted?

| Uncategorized

This photo was taken a few days ago – Wednesday, January 9. I try not to take sunrises for granted, but know I do, because daytime always happens – even when it is cloudy and we cannot see the sun or a beautiful sky. Do you ever wonder how God did that? How He decided […]

Sleet

Pictures from Tuesday, January 8 and Wednesday, January 9 Winter can have some dreary, cold days – and we had several days like that this week. There was a coating of sleet everywhere. The trees looked bare and the sky was gray. Back to the ground and the sleet in our yard. There isn’t much […]

Mule Deer Venison for Supper

| Uncategorized

Monday, January 7 I’m not a big fan of the taste of venison – mule deer or whitetail – so do my best to camouflage the taste when I make it. 🙂 My favorite way of making a venison steak is to cube it, fry it with bit of onion and sweet pepper, then when […]

Sunset ~ Squirrel Nest ~ Junco

| Uncategorized

Isn’t it amazing that sunsets are never the same? Saturday, January 5 was a beautiful evening. On the way back to the house I noticed a squirrel’s nest near the top of one of our tall trees. (just left of center) I know why I didn’t notice it during summertime – because of the leaves […]

Carolina Wren at Our Feeder

It is not too unusual to see wrens at our feeders, but I particularly enjoy when they come to the window feeder. I enjoy seeing their chubby, short body and distinctive beak. They are particularly fun – and noisy – to watch in summertime when they are building a nest.

Our Africa Wall

We picked up our canvas pictures today to put a more complete look to the Africa wall in our garage. Perfect Image did a great job on them. This is what we see when we pull our car into the garage. It makes us smile and remember our trip to South Africa in March 2018. […]

Thursday Evening, January 3 The Log Cabin was Nate’s choice for his 2018 birthday. It was a bit late (his birthday was last summer), but there was their wedding and a lot of other stuff going in the past few months. This isn’t far from our house, and even closer to Nate and Lauree’s place. […]

Pork & Sauerkraut on New Year’s Day

During a morning conversation, my sister, Nancy, and I discovered we were both hungry for pork and sauerkraut, so Cerwin and I took them out for an early lunch – a get-well-gift to them as Marlin is recently home from a hospital stay due to heart issues. Doctors concluded that open heart is too risky […]

Monday, December 31 Anthony was at our place for about an hour-and-a-half the other morning and when I asked what he wanted to do, he replied that he wanted to watch “his kids” on TV with grandpa. That means he wanted to watch the Baby Channel. He likes some of those shows, but is gradually […]

Bluebirds at Our Window Feeder

I put a suet block in this feeder and have been pleased at seeing some new birds here. This is the first time I remember having bluebirds in this feeder. They usually feed on the ground or in feeders farther away from the window. I think I will keep a suet block here, because it […]

My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
