Crepe Myrtle

I am especially enjoying our crepe myrtle bush this summer, because we thought the cold winter had killed it. We had to trim several branches, but the rest filled in with beautiful flowers. Facts and information from the Internet: It flowers and makes you gasp. Crepe myrtle is also known as the crape myrtle, and […]

From the Internet: Geranium, also known as crane’s bill, can be found throughout the world, but are native to the temperate climate of South Africa. The common name “cranesbill” refers to the seed capsule that looks like a crane’s bill. The beak-like column will burst open when ripe and casts the seeds over a distance. […]

Another Mushroom Saga

Wednesday, August 8 to Monday, August 13 I was surprised to discover five more mushrooms growing – in the same area as the two large ones of the other week. By the next day there were seven. Yes, I can count, there is one slightly hidden – third from the right. These were much smaller […]

Evening Rainbow

| Rain

Tuesday, August 7 It just felt like a rainbow-kind-of-evening. When I looked to the west, I could see the sun shining through raindrops. As I walked out of our driveway – beyond the trees – with raindrops falling on my head – I was pleased to see a beautiful rainbow. Seeing a rainbow always reminds […]

Raking Field Grass

Tuesday, August 7 – Late Morning Just before lunchtime I noticed that our Amish neighbor was raking the field across from our yard. We had looked at the field a few days earlier. It seemed like a mixture of grasses – probably for their milk goats. I didn’t realize that I captured a flying bird – […]

Saturday Evening, August 4 We had a few minutes while waiting for Josh at Jere and Kristen’s the other evening so I took my camera and walked around their yard. My husband, Cerwin, and I have four children, seventeen grandchildren (2 are in Heaven), and 19 great grandchildren. Cerwin spent 40 years as a truck driver for Ferrellgas. We are both retired from serving with Transport For Christ - a ministry to truck drivers - and love our life in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
