Enjoying a Day With Cerwin’s Mother

Sunday, April 15

~~~
We began the day by joining her at the 10:00 a.m. worship service at Landis Homes, and then enjoyed a delicious lunch in the dining room.
After that we took her to visit each of our local children and grandchildren – Josiah, Jeff & Chris, Jere & Kristen, and Nate & Abby.
I didn’t think about taking pictures at Josiah’s place. I will have to do that at a later date.
~~~

The idea for this day began when we talked to Mother about going to Jeff & Chris’ farm to see the items that are being prepared for auction. (This is the farm where their friend Mary Jane lived before her death last fall.)

Before going to the house, Mother wanted to see the animals.

After seeing the house, we went to Jere & Kristen’s house.

Jesse had just learned to ride bike without training wheels.

He is okay as long as he keeps moving, but hasn’t figured out how to stop and stay standing.

DSC_0029

Of course Jared wanted to show us what he can do on a bike.

DSC_0033

Ian also wanted to show us some of his bike skills.

DSC_0049

Jesse came to talk to great-grandma.

Then he was off again.

Jared also showed us his tree-climbing skills.

Jere wanted to show Grandma the front of their house. She had not seen the large deck they built.

As we prepared to leave, Ian and Jared asked us to watch them race down the driveway.

At the end of their driveway, we met their neighbor (and ours) Farrow who was out for a Sunday afternoon ride.

Our next stop was Nathaniel and Abby’s house. Mother had never been to their apartment.

By late afternoon we were back at Landis Homes, and while Cerwin helped mother to the door, I enjoyed the beautiful blossoms in the parking lot.

It looks like these Amish young people are going to a party of some sort because they are carrying gift bags.

~~~
Cerwin’s Mother is still talking about how much she enjoyed the afternoon.
When I saw Benny put his dirty thumb in his mouth, I exclaimed, “Oh, Benny.” But it was too late. And look at his other thumb. It is nice and clean compared to his fingers, so it had also been in his mouth.
Home Run Derby
Baseball Tournament, Saturday, April 14
~~~

I was visiting with friends, and not paying attention to what was going on at the field. It was the home run derby. I got pictures of a few of the guys, but missed most of them.

In the derby, each batter got ten swings. Each home run was a “free” swing.
