Let’s Go For Another Walk

Since many of you enjoyed our walk the other evening, I thought we would do it again!  Further more, I had a busy two days in the TFC office and needed a walk after work yesterday.

I’m going to prep you for this walk with a photo I took earlier in the day – of our Amish neighbor mowing rye across the road from our house.

1

This time we’ll walk the opposite direction by turning right at the end of the driveway.

If you look closely you can see our house between the trees in the center of the above photo.

The dust (above) is from a neighbor’s farm equipment.  We need rain, and it sounds like it is arriving later today.

That was great exercise, and I enjoyed your company.  We may have to do it again sometime.

I Love to Visualize John 14:20

 tulip

I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

~ Jesus ~

Every time I hear or read this verse, I remember a demonstration one of our pastors gave when explaining the love, security, and power each person has who surrenders their life to Jesus.

To visualize this verse, you will need four different sized envelopes.  On the largest write “God”.  On the next size write “Jesus”.  Put it inside the God envelope (I am in my Father).  On the next size write “Me”, or your name.  Insert it inside the Jesus envelope (you are in me).  On the smallest envelope write “Jesus”.  Put it inside the Me envelope (I am in you).

Look where you are in God’s plan – inside God and surrounded by Jesus.

I can’t imagine ever wanting to remove myself from that security by refusing to obey His plan of salvation.  Following Jesus means I am secure in the love of God, whether good or bad things are happening to me.

Easter Sunday

It was a beautiful day in our neck of the woods.  After church, Cerwin and I walked to Clair and Anne’s house for lunch – my brother and his wife live next door.  Their twin sons left for Virginia University when the meal was over, so they could be prepared for morning classes.  As the remaining five of us (Anne’s mom was also there) relaxed over coffee, we commented on how different it will be next week when the whole gang (50-60 people) will be at our place for the annual Hershey Easter dinner.

After leaving their house we relaxed a bit, then prepared to go to our youngest son’s family for supper.  Since it was a beautiful evening, I opted to walk.  Cerwin doesn’t enjoy walking as much as I do, so chose to make the one-mile trip by car.

1

I took time to walk by my brothers’ dairy barns.

2

Since there weren’t any brand new calves, I settled for a close up of a cow!

As I approached Jere and Kristen’s house, they opened the door to show Jared (almost two years old) that I was coming.  He took off running toward me!

He was nice and clean in the prior photo, but by the time we left (after spending a lot of time outside) he was in need of a bath!

5

During the evening Jana needed a hug from grandpa.  She loves doing gymnastic moves, and ended up hitting something immobile…

6

…leaving a small wound just above her waistline.

Because the weather was so nice, and the sun was just beginning to set, I decided to also make the return trip by foot.

6a

This time I walked by the main barn where I stopped to say hi to a different set of cows.  I was amused by this one who came to the edge of the barn, stretched her head around the corner, and watched me as long as she could.

7

I took a shortcut around the barns and enjoyed this view of the house where I grew up.

The sun was almost set by the time I got home.

Saturday

1 Tulips

  A Beautiful, Foggy Morning

2 Jeff

It was wonderful to have a relaxing day.  Cerwin went to an early morning prayer breakfast while I completed a few chores (post office, dry cleaners, laundry, etc.).  In the afternoon we stopped to visit our oldest son’s family to see the progression of their driveway extension.

 2a Sheep

I asked why the sheep were so noisy when I walked toward the barn.  Jeff said they were probably hoping I was returning the lambs he took to market earlier in the week.

3 Jenna and Smita

Then I noticed their oldest daughter Jenna and good friend and neighbor Smita walking toward me carrying flowers.  I asked who was getting the pretty flowers.  They looked a bit guilty before responding.  They were taking them to their owner!  It seems they picked them on the edge of their property and didn’t realize they belonged to a neighbor.

 4 girls

I love watching our children and their spouses teaching their children lessons of integrity and honesty.

3 Gloria

Our daughter-in-law, Chris knows I love taking unusual pictures and pointed out the possibility of capturing a cute picture of Gloria looking through the slats of their pickup truck.

5 Jeff and Cheri

From there we met our good friends, Earl and Arlene, who blessed us with the gift of an evening dinner concert near Chambersburg, featuring Jeff and Sheri Easter.  The meal was delicious and the gospel music awesome.  We especially enjoyed being introduced to Jeff and Sheri’s new baby.

Our Yard

Ian 1

Since the weather looks rainy and a bit uncertain during the next few days, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful afternoon yesterday and work in a few flower beds.  Grandson, Ian was anxious to help and loved doing whatever I was doing.

Ian 2

He wanted a shovel like mine, so I got him the one with a short handle.  It broke many years ago, and Cerwin repaired it with a remaining piece of the handle.  It has been a favorite of grandchildren.

His brother and sister walked to our place after school and joined in our determination to eradicate weeds and last year’s leftovers from flowerbeds.

Wednesday

Work in my office finally settled into a less deadline-oriented routine which I have been dealing with for the past few months.  Along with that, the weather was awesome, making it a wonderful day for me.  Cerwin also enjoyed a good day.  He was on the road delivering the chapel which is under construction, to a shop for sandblasting – in preparation for exterior painting and lettering.

By afternoon, we decided to call Cewin’s mother to see if we could visit in the evening.  She said Cerwin’s brother and his wife were taking her out for supper, and that we should join them.  She later called Cerwin’s sister and her husband to also join us.  We had a neat time.
