An Interesting Day in Our Yard

Today (1).JPG

It was so interesting that I set up my office in the garage so I wouldn’t miss anything ~ and a daughter-in-law, three grandsons, and a brother came to watch.

(I’ll tell you about it tomorrow.  It’s too late tonight.)

Evening

Today (2).JPG

I kept my eye on this sunset during our half-hour drive to meet friends for supper.  I was pleased to get this great picture – especially as it was taken while Cerwin was driving 55 mph!

Friends

We had a great evening with Earl and Arlene.  Since we were honoring his 70th Birthday, the conversation eventually turned to discussing when we first met.  We decided it was more than thirty years ago.

Luna Moth

Afterward we went to their house to see the Luna Moth cocoon.

Several weeks ago Earl found a Luna caterpillar in their yard, and brought it inside for Arlene.  It soon made a cocoon in the corner of their aquarium and is now about ready to emerge.

This is what a Luna caterpillar looks like.

I am a bit “jealous” that they are going to get to watch this beautiful moth emerge in the next day or so.  I am anxious to hear their story.

Noon Visit

Lunch with Arlene and Velma

These women came into my life following the death of my aunt and mother.  Arlene (left) married my uncle after his wife (my mother’s sister) died in her early 40s.  Velma (center) married my dad following the death of my mother in 1974.  Both have been twice widowed, but, despite painful memories, neither has stopped living life to the full.

Evening Transformation

This is what the Quebec chapel looked like one week ago.

Today (3).JPG

Several days later – after painting – it looked like this.

When Cerwin picked it up at the sign shop this evening – the French lettering was complete.

Pray that everything will fall in place for it’s delivery to the truck stop in Quebec early next week.

Coming Home

Today.JPG

Today we were on the road by 8 a.m. and stopped at The Barn, in Greigsville, NY, for breakfast.  (The same place we had lunch on Saturday.)

Yesterday when we ordered drinks, Sam ordered decaf coffee, Cerwin ordered regular, and I ordered regular coffee to go.  We had the same waitress this morning.  When she saw us, she asked if we wanted the same – decaf, regular, and coffee to go.

I find that amazing.  I do well to remember what I drank for lunch yesterday, let alone everyone who comes into the restaurant.

We always enjoy seeing this old tractor next to the restaurant.  There is often a driver who matches the season.

Another thing I like about this trip is stopping at the Pennsylvania Welcome Center north of Williamsport ~ where the view is awesome.

Today the resident maples were dressed in brilliant red.

It was a beautiful day for a 315-mile drive.
