I’m Still Learning!

www.xanga.com/fwren thinks the Ladybugs we have are Asian Ladybugs.  Look at these pictures.  I think I must agree!  I didn’t know there were so many kinds of ladybugs – and these are just the most common ones.  There are lots more!

Rain & Sunshine

Ladybugs & Ground Cherry Pie

It was a damp, dreary morning in our area.

By late morning the sun was breaking through the clouds.

The heat brought out hundreds of Ladybugs.

Wet (7).JPG

They were everywhere!  We had trouble keeping them outside when we opened a door.

Wet (8).JPG

I don’t think I ever saw so many Ladybugs!

Surprise!

About the middle of the afternoon I heard someone coming down the steps to my office and was surprised to see our friend Arlene Sauder.  She had baked a ground cherry pie – especially for Cerwin.

She and Earl had driven half an hour just to deliver it.

They know this is a special treat for him ~ and me.

Because I knew you would ask!

What is a ground cherry pie?

A ground cherry is a small orange fruit similar in size and shape to a cherry tomato.  The fruit is covered in paper husk.  The flavor is a pleasant, unique tomato/pineapple like blend.  The ground cherry is very similar to the cape gooseberry, with similar, but unique flavors.

Once extracted from its husk, it may be eaten raw or used in salads, pies, or deserts, as well as jellies.  They can also be dried.  The fruit is ripe when the paper husk can be removed easily to reveal a yellow cherry-like fruit.

Oh, by the way – the pie is delicious!  Thanks Earl and Arlene.

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.  Hebrews 10:25  NIV

Wouldn’t it Be Nice

If there were wheel alignments for shopping carts?

~~~
I read that quote the other day, and thought about it tonight when shopping at Walmart.
My cart worked fine until I got to the far side of the store – then wheels began bulking and squeaking.
 By the time I was finished shopping I could barely move the cart – and I had less than twenty items.
~~~

I vote for wheel alignments on grocery carts!
