Between Sunrise and Sunset

Saturday

DSC_0001.JPG

While we were enjoying our first cup of coffee, Cerwin asked if I wanted to go shopping?

He needed to return the cell phone charger he got for the car the other week, because it did not fit the phone.

I quickly made a list of places we needed to go!

~~~
  • The dry cleaners – to pick up a few of my skirts.
  • Zig’s Bakery – for sandwich rolls for supper tomorrow when the TFC Truck Rally Committee is here.  While there, we decided the Moravian Sugar Cake and chocolate chip angel food cake looked like good choices for dessert.
  • Park City – where Cerwin needed to return the charger at AT&T.  I shopped at the drug store next door for some items we needed.
  • S. Clyde Weaver – for lunch.  I suggested this deli because I knew I could find a sandwich that fit in my ten-day diet plan.  I chose a tuna/cucumber (yum), plus iced mango tea.  We also purchased lunch meat and cheese for tomorrow’s supper.
  • Longenecker’s Hardware – because I needed a new blender to make fruit smoothes.  Cerwin bought some items for the chapel he is building for Chilliwack, BC, Canada.
  • Hilltop Acres – where I purchased homemade tapioca and potato salad, plus a few other items for tomorrow’s meal.
~~~

Four hours after leaving, we were back home unpacking bags.

Before preparing the house and garage for tomorrow, we took time for a cup of coffee while reading the mail and watching the news.

By suppertime, the sun was setting and painting a beautiful design in the western sky.

Now we’re listening to and watching some of our favorite Saturday night music – Gaither Gospel Hour and Grand Ole Opry.

~~~
I walked six hundred steps on the Air Climber today.
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial,
because when he has stood the test,
he will receive the crown of life
that God has promised to those who love him.
This is the Day I Start!
DSC_0014
Every January I try to follow a ten-to-fourteen-day routine of special exercise and diet just because of all the junk food I ate in December, also because I miss the exercise I get in spring, summer, and fall when I walk outside (I’m a fair weather walker).
~~~

After a new exercise routine on our Air Climber, and the recommended breakfast of toast with peanut butter and a strawberry/banana smoothie, I took a one-minute walk outside – just to breath in fresh air and say, “Good morning, Lord.”

DSC_0018.JPG

It was a damp morning, but since I work in our basement office, it is easy to never go outside during the routine of my day – especially during the cold days of winter – the reason breathing in fresh air feels so good.

~~~
Lunch was a chicken/tomato/cucumber tortilla
When I went to the post office this afternoon, the sun was brilliant.
~~~

Before supper, I did another sixty steps on our Air Climber.

Supper was supposed to be a salad and Mediterranean soup (chicken & spinach), but since I had a similar soup in the freezer, I just heated that.

While the soup heated, I took another one-minute walk outside to say, “Good night, Lord.  Thank You for Your grace and strength today.”

~~~
Following a special diet and new exercise routine is always invigorating and refreshing.  I feel good tonight.
I will live in you…[Jesus]
Even though we know
He is beside us and over us,
before us and behind us,
it is still amazing to think about God living in us!
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Who is Going to Help Me Tomorrow?
Our grandchildren went home late this afternoon.
Wednesday.JPG
Earlier in the day, the boys wanted to Swiffer the floor.
Swiffer Sweepers are another fun thing for grandmas to keep on hand for busy little people.
Wednesday (2).JPG
When they were finished with the floor, they wanted to clean cupboards.  Ian centered on the stove.  He was fascinated by what happened with the sight of the wet marks on the stove in the sunlight.  He made it a project to try not to let any dry streaks show.
~~~

I was in another room some of the time, and heard Jared call, “Help me, Grandma, my cloth is stuck on the light.”

Wednesday (3).JPG

“How did it get up there,” I asked.

Wednesday (4).JPG

“I don’t know,” he replied.

How could something like that happen when a three-year-old is cleaning cupboards?

Wednesday (5).JPG

When he got tired of that job, he wanted a cape so he could be some kind of superman.  I am waiting for the time he tries flying!

~~~
It is so quiet tonight.
I have actually been sitting for more than fifteen minutes, and there is nobody needing to go to the bathroom, asking for a bath, wanting help with plastic canvas stitching, or begging for a snack.
But on the other hand, there is nobody saying, “Thank you, Grandma; I love you, Grandma; or goodnight, Grandma.”
Grandchildren are the reward of old people…  Proverbs 17:6 ICB
We have not stopped praying for you
since the first day we heard about you.
In fact,
we always pray that God will show you
everything he wants you to do
and that you may have all the wisdom and understanding
that his Spirit gives.
Colossians 1:9 CEV
Today in Our House
Jan 8.JPG
Ian wasn’t ready for Jana to leave for school when she walked out the door this morning.  He begged her to stay home and play with him.
Jan 8 (1).JPG
After some sweet-talking, by reminding him that she would soon be home again, and that he will be going to school next year, she brought a smile back to his face.
Jan 8 (2).JPG
It was a beautiful morning, with a light mist over the valley…
Jan 8 (3).JPG
…and a glorious sunrise.
Jan 8 (4).JPG
Jared missed that, however.  He woke up with the rest, but just wasn’t ready to be out of bed, so brought his pillow and blanket to the living room floor, where he slept until 9:30!
~~~

The rest of the day was fairly routine ~ according to the past few days ~ and I was able to get some office work done on my laptop while the boys played.

~~~
Jan 8 (5).JPG
And as Jana promised, she was soon home again, a bit later than usual because she had a class in Russian after school.
Jan 8 (6).JPG
The name at the top is Jana in Russian.
Jan 8 (7).JPG
She wasn’t home very long before she wanted to bake cookies.  In this picture she is reading the directions on the box of preshaped cookies.
Jan 8 (8).JPG
A hint to grandmas who don’t like to bake, and have grandchildren who do.  Keep frozen cookie dough on hand.
Jan 8 (9).JPG
We had delicious, still warm, Monster cookies for supper.
Jan 8 (10).JPG
When the cookies were finished, she proceeded to make this design with dominoes.
Jan 8 (11).JPG
A beautiful sunset on a very warm, winter day.
 Tonight when the boys got out of the bathtub to be dried and dressed in pj’s, I lost a child!
1-8-08 (12)
I dried Ian, then Jared, then proceeded to help Ian get dressed in his pajamas.  When I turned around to help Jared, he was gone!
All that was left was a pile of towels.
1-8-08 (13)
Oh, there he is!
