I’m not sure that the moon is a sign of spring, but it was so noticeable in the clear, blue, sky the other morning.

 Springtime (19).JPG

Then one morning, just before sunrise, it was bright orange.

I checked the Internet to see why a moon appears to be orange:  The orange or red color of the Moon is due to a filtering effect caused by particles in the Earth’s atmosphere, because it is reflected light from the Sun.

The Extravagance of God

More sky than man can see,

More seas than he can sail,

More sun than he can bear to watch,

More stars than he can scale.

More breath than he can breathe,

More yield than he can sow,

More grace than he can comprehend,

More love than he can know.

Today

Wednesday, April 8

Today.JPG

Cerwin brought the TFC tractor home today, because he needs to move the new chapel first thing tomorrow morning – from the paint shop to the place where the lettering will be done.

Today (1).JPG

I made the “mistake” of opening the mini blinds and showing it to Jesse.

Today (2).JPG

After that he kept saying, “a ma”, “a ma,” and motioning for me to take him outside.

Today (3).JPG

My second “mistake” was taking him out to the truck.

Today (4).JPG

After this, he continually wanted to go outside to the truck.  We tried all kinds of things to distract him, but little worked until…

Today (5).JPG

…his mom and dad came home following a ten-day trip to Switzerland and Italy.

I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Now we are back to a usual quiet, routine evening – without any sweet little guy needing a snack, a drink, a bath, or bed.

It’s just us.

There Are Now Only Three Grandchildren Here

Five Have Gone Home and Two Are at Aunt Deb’s

After church we met Roy and Deb at Pizza Hut for lunch.

Josh and Jana liked traveling to Aunt Deb’s in Roy’s ’71 Camaro.

Meanwhile, back at the house Jesse liked trying on Hezekiah’s hat.

Sunday (12).JPG

It was finally warm enough to get the under-the-tree-dirt-toys out of the attic.  Hezekiah is the grown-up under the tree.

This sandy soil makes a natural sandbox.

Sunday (14).JPG

Abigail and Josiah stopped in during the midafternoon to pick up Hezekiah.  This is probably the last time we will see Josiah before he heads to the midwest to join a harvest crew.

Sunday (15).JPG

Their friend Quentin was also along on this quick trip to Pennsylvania.

Beginning their long drive (about ten hours) back to Maine.

The little boys wanted cookies and needed something to do.

I usually keep a pack or two of these preshaped cookies on hand when I know grandchildren are coming.

When they noticed this box – which I had used to store the dirt toys – Jared said, “Let’s make a boat.”  Jesse loved being the passenger…

…especially when they bumped up and down this step.

Now There Are Ten Grandchildren Here!

A Birthday Party

Saturday, April 4

Saturday.JPG

Josh, Diana, Jenna, Ian, Gloria, Jared, Jana, Abigail, Jesse, and Hezekiah

Wednesday afternoon Abigail called and asked if we had room for two Maine grandchildren to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday.  What fun to figure out where ten grandchildren will sleep.

The main purpose of their ten-hour trip seemed to be to surprise her boyfriend.  She and Hezekiah would stay here, their older brother Josiah was scheduled to stay next door with our nephew Kurt, and I think their other Maine friend Quentin also stayed at my brother’s house.

Saturday (1).JPG

Our “triplet” grandchildren.  Josh (left) is five weeks older than Hezekiah, and Hezekiah is fifteen days older than Jenna.

Saturday (3).JPG

This is what our ten beds looked like on Saturday morning.  Six slept here in the back room of the garage.  This area was made up of air mattresses, one twin mattress from the trundle in the guest room, and a folded sleeping bag (third from left) for Ian.  We were going to make another “bed” for Jared with a comforter, but Diana and Jana wanted to share the twin mattress.

Saturday (6).JPG

Josh and Hezekiah got the living room.

Saturday (7).JPG

Abigail and Jesse slept in the guest room.

Saturday (5).JPG

The front part of the garage is lined with tables filled with clothing.  I tried to give everyone his/her own space for personal items.  Shoes, tubs, and suitcases went under their table space.

Saturday (4).JPG

As a rule, I rarely get this much laundry twice a week.  Now this is happening every day.

Saturday (2).JPG

Abigail helped Jared get ready to go to Chuck-E-Cheese.  Meanwhile, she was preparing to take Hezekiah to a friend’s farm (where he would spend the day and night), and then on to surprise her boyfriend.   I talked to him at church on Sunday morning, and she succeeded in her plan!

Jana and Jesse riding horse.

Our first stop today was Chuck-E-Cheese – actually our first stop was to take Gloria to meet her dad, because she wasn’t feeling well.

The last time we were here with Jesse, I had to help him at the sliding board, this time he did this over and over again.  All by himself.

Putting a long strip of tickets into the counting machine.

Saturday (22).JPG

Our second (and last) stop was Park City Mall.

Saturday (23).JPG

Josh found a cell phone cover at this kiosk.

Saturday (24).JPG

When walking, we used the buddy system.  Each small one held the hand of an older one.

Saturday (25).JPG

Cerwin, Jesse, Ian, Jared, and I spent most of our time in waiting areas near stores where the older ones wanted to shop.

Saturday (26).JPG

Diane liked the organizer she found.  Before going home we bought everyone a small fruit slushy.

A Seventy-fifth Birthday Party for TFC Friend Anna Mae Wise

Josh and Jenna took care of the younger ones at the house for a few hours while we picked up Cerwin’s mother and went to the evening birthday party.

It was a busy, fun day.

I was delighted that everyone was bathed and in PJ’s when we got home.  Thanks to the big girls for helping the little guys with their baths.

It was nice to prop up my feet tonight.
