Our Mailbox

Rain On Our Picnic

Because Abigail wanted something to do on Friday morning, and there was going to be a picnic at our pavilion on Saturday evening, I asked her to top the dead Shasta Daisies and pick up sticks – the result of several thunderstorms during the week.

A short time later I looked outside and saw that Cerwin and Lydia were having a “conference” at the mailbox.  Then I noticed that there was no mailbox.    As it turned out, Lydia had bumped it with the grass catcher of the lawnmower and knocked it over.

When I got there, Cerwin was teasing her about reckless driving – before assuring her that a strong wind could have knocked it over.

By Saturday morning, Lydia and Cerwin had designed a new mailbox post.

I forgot to take pictures at our Sunday school class picnic on Saturday evening, until we had a sudden downpour and I ran to an uncovered table to retrieve some things – including my camera.  I took this photo (of everyone crowded under the pavilion) while standing in pouring rain.

We did have nice weather, except for the five to ten minute rain.

Several of the men are farmers, and mentioned that our fields and grass were much greener than theirs – and they live only ten to fifteen miles away.  The next day in Sunday school some of them said they did not get rain the evening before.

Wait until you see what we did on Friday night – to support Abigail’s handsome Nathaniel.

Maybe a picture of her ride that night will give you a hint.

The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them.

People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

Manicures/Pedicures

Japanese Meal

Babysitting

Thursday July 30 – Afternoon & Evening

Abigail getting a French pedicure

This was the afternoon that our daughter Deb scheduled manicures and pedicures for us (Abigail, Lydia, and me) at the salon where she goes.

Oh, yes!

Deb made sure I got the lady who gives a great leg and foot massage – and the chair is massaging my back.

She thought it was fun!

Abigail loved hers as well.

Abigail’s drunken noodles

(I’m not sure why it’s called that, because there is no alcohol in it.)

Deb and I shared an hibachi chicken and shrimp plate.

Abigail tried to teach me how to use chopsticks.

Even though I picked up a piece of chicken, I can tell by Abigail’s expression that I wasn’t doing it correctly.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Jere and Kristen needed a babysitter for an hour or two, so Cerwin accepted the challenge.  I liked these photos by Ian and Jared.

Don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says.

Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

I Met Another Xanga Friend

Thursday, July 30

Us.JPG

It was wonderful to have lunch with i-was-there-and-back-again who doesn’t live far from our house.  We find it interesting that our paths have never crossed – even though we live in the same area, and have mutual friends.

We spent almost two hours getting to know each other, and could have visited much longer, but both of us had places to be and things to do.
