Stringing Beads

Tuesday, January 26

Shortly after arriving at our house – via truck – Jana introduced her brothers to the boxes of beads in my closet.

She wanted to stitch a plastic canvas bookmark – and did, but I forgot to take a finished picture.

Jesse liked the larger, foam beads.

Ian and Jared preferred the small, plastic ones.

I think my life would be boring without grandchildren.

Truck Ride

Tuesday, January 26

 DSC_0121.JPG

On Tuesday, after getting back from delivering the chapel chairs, we came home in the International Tractor – for an early morning inspection at a garage not far from our house.

On the way home, I called our daughter-in-law Kristen to see if she thought the little boys and Jana would like a one-mile ride in the truck, as they were coming to our house for the evening while Jere and Kristen had a meeting.

Kristen said that after I called, Ian thought that he was too excited to wait until we got there.

What fun! Today (Thursday) when Jesse saw a white truck, he thought it was “Pa.”

New Chairs for TFC’s Elkton, Maryland, Chapels

Tuesday, January 26

TFC International Office

Cerwin loaded eighteen new chairs in the TFC pickup truck, and another eighteen on our son’s trailer, in preparation for an almost-two-hour trip to Elkton, Maryland. (We had originally planned to make this trip yesterday, but postponed it because of the wind and rain.)

Chaplain David Hoy was pleased to be receiving new chairs.

1aa (4).jpg

David talked to some of the truck stop staff, and had the old chairs moved out and distributed to a waiting area in the shop and another waiting area inside the truck stop.

I like this chapel’s “wall of truckers.”

We left the trailer there, then drove up the road a mile to the TA Travel Plaza where the Life-Saver Chapel is placed.

After removing the old (red) chairs from the chapel, Chaplain David helped Cerwin unload the new chairs. We distributed most of these old chairs to the shop and TV room.

Chaplain David treated us to a wonderful lunch at a nearby Cracker Barrel.

Wind, Rain, & Crows

Monday, January 25

1a.jpg

It’s impossible to capture wind. However, this dried, decorative grass demonstrates a bit of what was happening outside our house yesterday.

1aa (1).JPG

Lots of small branches scattered across our country acre are also proof that it was a windy day.

1aa (2).JPG

Wet leaves, in areas where they have gathered during winter winds, were the result of the early morning rain.

1aa (3).jpg

Just before the heavy rain, a large flock of crows stopped by our yard for a very noisy meeting.

By late morning, heavy rain pelted our windows.

I kind of like the sound of wind and rain.

At one point it got so dark that our dusk to dawn light came on.

I found out later that I missed a beautiful rainbow.

A Delicious Gift & Faith Like Potatoes

Sunday, January 24

2.jpg

 Shortly after lunch, I was greeted at the door by our sweet niece Chelsey, who said she felt domestic and generous yesterday…

2 (1).jpg

 …so she baked small loaves of cinnamon bread and made icing to give to a few of her neighbors.

2 (2).jpg

 I’m glad she is my niece and one of our neighbors.

2 (3).jpg

 During the afternoon we relaxed – and cried – while watching a video I ordered online when i_was_there_and_back_again mentioned it in a recent entry.

2 (4).jpg

 It was so good, and a great faith-builder.

I know I will watch it again – probably many times. There are parts that are a bit dramatic for small children, so if you borrow, rent, or purchase it, watch it first before including small children in the audience – so you know which of your children are old enough to handle the tragedy and drama.

2 (5).jpg

 The cinnamon bread was a perfect “meal” for a Sunday evening.

2 (6).jpg

2 (7).jpg

 Oh, yum!

~~~
Thanks Chelsey!
