Where’s the box of tissues?!?!? We can’t express our many
feelings…being humbled, overwhelmed and so encouraged by this
seemingly small to many act of kindness and blessing to us! In the midst of this all, sometimes we wonder if people are really behind us all and the move to Maine….this, along with your many notes, words and phone calls of encouragement the past 5 days, have given us an added boost to keep going! Now we wait for the entries to be verified, and then they contact the winner by Aug 9….we’ll keep you posted! Blessings to each of you, and thanks again!!!

Our ending vote was 773 with the second place being 667….WOW!!!!!  That’s 773 households!  Not people!

Update as of 6:30 AM 8-3-10, The blog that hosted the grill has this msg posted on it

“This contest has ended. Congrats to Eunice B!”

Truck Show – Part 3 ~ Riverwood

0 (1).JPG

Riverwood – Bert & Marilyn Peel’s Bed and Breakfast and Retreat Centre – was a welcome place to return to each evening after the truck show.

We could hardly wait to get inside and relax after busy days of ministry.

If you ever travel to the Fergus/Belwood area of Ontario, Canada, and need a place to stay, we HIGHLY recommend Riverwood. Go to www.riverwoodretreatbb.com.

Len and Sue stayed in The Stable

The Chicken Coop was across the hall from us.

The Garden was another choice.

We chose The Doghouse mostly because it overlooked some of their beautiful gardens.

After getting settled in on Thursday night, Marilyn offered us tea or coffee. She and Bert (background) introduced us to the house and made us feel welcome.

Kaeilah was a delightful dog and seemed to be where ever Bert and Marilyn were.

5 (7).JPG

During our stay, we also enjoyed sweet Christian fellowship. Their bed and breakfast is truly a ministry.

1 (34).JPG

Each morning we woke up to the delightful scent of breakfast being prepared in the kitchen.

1 (37).JPG

These beautiful napkin holders were actually small vases. On this day there were Purple Coneflowers (echinacea) in the holders.

1 (29).JPG

This bouquet of Alstroemeria was the centerpiece on the breakfast table each morning.

5 (8).JPG

Our first breakfast – Bacon and Egg Pie

1 (32).JPG

Irish Soda Bread

The dark spots are blueberries – not chocolate chips.

Fresh Fruit

 5 (9).JPG

It has been a long time since we felt so pampered.

I felt like a queen – maybe even more so – because a queen is used to this kind of service. And somebody who doesn’t even know us paid the bill. That is humbling and overwhelming.

5 (10).JPG

We enjoyed that Marilyn joined us for breakfast on Friday morning. Bert was off to the truck show, as he and Marilyn helped register the campers. Marilyn took her turn at the registration a bit later in the day.

More truck show pictures tomorrow night.

Truck Show – Part 2

2 (1).JPG

Each time I walked the grounds to see what or who I could photograph, many guys and gals were polishing and cleaning chrome.

2 (2).JPG

This guy asked if I would take a picture of him with his truck.

2 (3).JPG

On one walk I found some serious animal guards.

Some call them grill guards, cow catchers, roo-bars, moose bumpers, and most often, bullbars. They provide you with collision protection against elk, deer, moose, debris and any other obstruction that dares get in your way.

2 (8).JPG

I enjoyed watching this cutie and her mom polishing wheel nut covers.

2 (9).JPG

2 (10).JPG

I asked if the truck was her dad’s. She nodded “yes”.

2 (11).JPG

These are spiked nut covers.

2 (12).JPG

Bell City Transport trucks created a pretty display

2 (15).JPG

 I was interested in Challenger’s A-Train

2 (14).JPG

This one was a long rig – with two 53′ trailers hooked together. The blue equipment in front of the A-train was part of another Challenger trailer.

2 (13).JPG

I learned that an A-train is when two full trailers are hooked together with a dollie. The B-train is when the back trailer is attached directly to the first trailer. One driver told me that he does not like to back an A-train, because it is like backing a rope.

2 (16).JPG

Joel Bernier (say it the French way because he was born in Quebec) from Branford, Ontario, enjoyed teaching me about A-trains and B-trains, and then asked to see the chapel when I told him what we do.

2 (17).JPG

These two men Milko and Simeron were born in Croatia, and met in Ontario. Both are vibrant Christians and enjoyed telling us about their lives, and listening to Cerwin tell them about TFC.

The beautiful sunset as we left the grounds on Friday evening.

Would you be willing to help Randy and Eunice – a young couple from our church. http://tigergal01.xanga.com/
25c7d3c43080eaa4fb4d24790ce81a7215401817
They are soon moving to Maine as a part of a church plant, and need a new grill. They entered a contest to win one. They would appreciate if you would you take a few seconds to vote for them?

Click on the link below – vote for Eunice B (not the EUNICE B in all caps or the eunice b without any caps.) As I write this, she is the Eunice B with the most votes.
Thanks, Doris

From Eunice:

UGH! I’m like most people…I don’t like to ask for thin
gs, but sometimes it’s a good thing. This just might be one of those times. Our grill died. It’s served us more than faithfully the past 8+ yrs, but now it’s gone. We’ve been searching for several months, and just last week, we decided on one. After thinking about it some more, we were ready to place the order online Weds evening. We got as far as placing it in our cart, and then we stopped. I asked if we should wait a few more days. Not sure why, but sure no problem, we’ve been waiting this long.

Fast forward to 4 hrs later….I’m browsing a few blogs and came across one that’s giving away a grill…not just any grill, but the next step up from the cheaper version we were going to buy. There is a contest until Aug 2, 9:00 PM EST, and you can vote once per household. Anyway, here is my shameless plug…would you vote for us?

Our entry is Eunice B…there is another one EUNICE B…this is NOT us, and the votes don’t count for us
http://www.facebook.com/l/17f107xQp0m3JlmKrvSdXHhAueA;www.classymommy.com/giveaway_new/contest9/vote.php?contest=hotdogs&name=Eunice+B

Competition is stiff, and I don’t like to beg, but this would be such a blessing….that’s putting it mildly at this stage of our lives! For those of you that don’t know us personally, we’ve been asked, along with 6 other families to move to Maine to help with a church plant next month. More than a few uncertainties, but God is faithful!

Thanks for your support!

Truck Show – Part 1

 1 (2).JPG

Friday was an interesting day as we met vendors and truckers. The show opened to the public at noon.

1 (3).JPG

Every driver who entered the truck show drove by the chapel.

I liked how the chapel reflected in this shiny trailer.

1 (11).JPG

Every driver was escorted to his/her spot by someone on a golf cart.

1 (10).JPG

1 (12).JPG

We were pleased with the number of people who came to see the chapel and find out what TFC is all about.

These two pink trucks grabbed my attention.

Traveling to Fergus, Ontario

July 22

Day 2

1 (1).JPG

Because a few trucks and cars left the lot, it was easier to see the two chapels on Thursday morning.

1 (3).JPG

After Cerwin and Dave went to a hardware store for paint, Cerwin repaired and painted the entrance steps to the chapel.

1 (4).JPG

Chaplain David liked the new look.

1 (2).JPG

Chaplain David and driver Juan enjoyed visiting and talking about things of the Lord.

After Cerwin finished his maintenance work, and Chaplain David and I worked on a newsletter, it was time to move on toward Fergus.

1 (5).JPG

We had an interesting border crossing this time.  The crossing agents decided to check the chapel with an xray machine and go through the entire truck and chapel. They were very nice, and it didn’t take very long.

1 (6).JPG

Lake Ontario

1 (7).JPG

Murray Kuehl asked us to meet him before we got to Fergus. Sweet man that he is, he gave us a gift card for Tim Horton’s! Turned out that we couldn’t use it at the truck show like he hoped, but we will use it. Stay tuned a few more days!

1 (8).JPG

After putting the chapel in place at the show, Len, Sue, Cerwin, and I went out for supper. I knew you would all like to see our dessert. I think it was called “Raspberry Bomb”. Oh, my! It was delicious.

1 (9).JPG

Then we went back to the show and set up the steps and prepared the chapel for visitors. It was a drizzly, rainy evening.

1 (10).JPG

Len at their vendor spot out in the exhibit area.

2.JPG

Someone from the area arranged and paid for our stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast.

2a.JPG

I don’t mind sleeping in the truck or chapel – but this is so nice!

2b.JPG

3 (1).JPG

3 (2).JPG

I felt like a queen – and probably appreciated it more than the queen, because she is used to luxury.

3 (3).JPG

More pictures of the show and the bed and breakfast in future posts.
