Can mighty pine trees grow tall without soil?

Can luscious tomatoes flourish without water?

Blossoming flowers look great before they’re cut or picked, but without soil or water they wither more quickly than grass.

That’s what happens to all who forget God—all their hopes come to nothing.

Job 8:11-13 (The Message)

A New Porch

Wednesday, September 1 to Monday, September 6

Cerwin began removing boards from our old porch on Wednesday, September 1.

1 (2).JPG

This had become a necessity, as these old boards were getting very rickety.

His goal was to finish the job during Labor Day weekend…

…and he got a good start at replacing the porch on Friday.

We knew that our grandson Josiah and granddaughter Abigail were coming here for the weekend (from Maine), but did not realize that Josiah was not leaving for Rhodes Grove Camp Meeting weekend until late afternoon on Saturday.

He was very pleased to help with the porch.

Cerwin was happy with the amount of work they finished on Saturday.

By Saturday evening the porch looked like this.

And by the time Josiah left (10:00 a.m.) on Monday the job was finished.

Thanks, Josiah. Grandpa said he would have had to spend another day on the porch if you had not helped.

Orpha (left) was surprised when she discovered that her husband, Gary (seated next to her) and their daughters had pulled this party over on her. She thought she was going to a granddaughter’s birthday party.

Their daughters Joanna and Jennifer

Guests enjoying delicious food served by Orpha’s family.

The party was in Jerry and Jen’s back yard.

It was a beautiful day for a party.

Fresh veggies and dip were only a small part of a fabulous array of food.

There was even an ice cream machine.

The drink (ice tea, lemonade, water) decanters were beautiful and classy. I loved them!

I just received a call from a handsome, gray-haired man, asking me for a date for tomorrow – 5:30 p.m. – Lily’s on Main!

It’s our forty-seventh wedding anniversary.
