Granddaughters ~ Pretty Sunrise

October 7 & 8

 10-7-10 (3)

These four (Left to right: Diana, Jenna, Jana and Gloria) decided that it was time to hang out at our place for a day and night. They know they can ask us to do this several times a year. Cerwin was archery hunting, so we went to McDonalds for supper.

10-7-10 (7)

They slept in our kingsize bed while Cerwin and I slept in the guest room.  Three work in a kingsize bed, but four is too many. After awhile Gloria went to the floor.

10-8-10 (4)

A beautiful sunrise the next morning.

Another Successful Hunt

Saturday, October 23

DSCN0437

Jeff and Cerwin had another successful hunt on Saturday evening. Jeff shot his doe (left) with a bow, and Cerwin shot his second doe in two days with a rifle. The junior and senior hunt lasts only three days – Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – so Cerwin will go back to archery hunting this week.

Manheim Farm Show

Wednesday, October 6

Part 2 – The Parade

2 (1)

Though I am not a “crowd person” I always have fun watching a hometown parade. This one opened with local fire trucks.

People across the street. (Jeanie Stauffer – do you recognize the people on the left?)

2 (10)

WRE: Weekday Religious Education

2 (11)

Our granddaughter Gloria is on this float.

2 (12)

There wasn’t enough light for me to pick up a good picture of her.

2 (13)

A picture I took when she came back to us after the parade.

2 (14)

Old car

2 (15)

How about that extension table? I counted eleven chairs on each side – plus one on each end – seating twenty-four.

2 (16)

A local bank

2 (17)

Sauder Eggs

The rain had stopped for awhile – but about this time it began again.

2 (23)

A marching band from a visiting school. I enjoy seeing other marching bands participate in our parade.

2 (24)

Our crew of parade-watchers was made up of family and friends.

2 (25)

My favorite part was the old tractors. They seem to be so appropriate for a farm show parade, and I love the putt-putt sound of the old engines.

Owners and their dogs

One of the last floats was Shady Maple Catering.

Beautiful!

I was cold and wet when I got home, but dry clothes and a cup of coffee soon warmed me up.

Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened.

Manheim Farm Show

Wednesday, October 6

Part 1

1 (1)

Cerwin ordering a sausage sandwich in the rain.

The sun was shining when we left home, so we thought our area had escaped the rain – but it began raining about the time we arrived in town.

1 (2)

Cerwin is eating his sandwich in the background while I photograph our granddaughter Jenna (left) with three of her friends.

1 (4)

We went to the buildings where vegetables and crafts were on display, and where local businesses show their wares – getting us out of the rain.

This pumpkin weighed 670 pounds!

  1 (5)

Our brother-in-law Marlin displayed his deer mount (upper left) in the Manheim Sportsman’s Club booth.

1 (8)

In the next building, our niece Melissa was watching her daughter Jamie clean their pigs’ pen. Melissa and Jason’s youngest daughter Kelci is sitting in the next pen where they kept supplies.

1 (6)

1 (9)

1 (10)

This is fleece from one sheep!

A goat enjoying its food

Two of Chelsey’s (our niece) goats.

The cow barn

1 (16)

Bentley, a one-week-old bull calf.

1 (18)

A cute alpaca

Children love playing in the “corn box”

1 (20)

Summer is a miniature horse who is four years old.

1 (25)

A farm show clown

1 (26)

A craft building

1 (27)

We love seeing the creativity of several guys and girls from our church who rent space, and use it for sharing the gospel. In this photo two guys are sharing “the good news” with the three young people on the left.
