Highway News Mailing & A Few Other Things

Wednesday, January 18

Glenn, C.B., Rachel, and Doris were our helpers this month. I forgot to take pictures while they were labeling the magazines, so captured a few shots while they were visiting.

This was what our van looked like with thirteen Post Office tubs filled with Highway News.

C.B. and Doris brought me another container of delicious ham and bean soup (Yum!) and a loaf of homemade bread. How nice to have that on hand during this busy week. Thanks!

I still need to take a break from the office in the early afternoon as I heal from the accident. Watching birds for a few minutes is usually a part of the break.

By the way, I am doing well, but still taking tests. Tomorrow morning I am having an EEG.

Watching downy woodpeckers is a peaceful thing to do.

Our Yard Last Week

While some of you have had many inches of snow in recent weeks, we have only been getting dustings.

By late morning the snow was gone and this squirrel was busy looking for shellbarks.

Oops, I think he noticed me.

He didn’t go very far though, and continued searching for food.

Our pretty cardinal was back searching for seeds under the bird feeders.

Have a nice day, unless you already have other plans.

~~~
Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. Colossians 3:1-2 (The Message)
We had a gift card for Texas Road House, so decided to use it on Saturday evening.
We got there about 4:45 p.m., and almost every seat was full. We were glad we went early, because there was more than an hour wait by the time we left at 6:00 p.m.
My delicious meal.
I brought most of the sweet potato home, and enjoyed it for lunch the next day.
It was good that we only ordered one dessert, and that was a good thing, and the apple pie and ice cream was quite large.
Nothing Feels Quite So Dreary
As a Cold, Rainy, Winter Morning
Thursday, January 12
The landscape was indeed cold and dreary on Thursday morning.
I love to find light on a cold, dreary day.
That Was Interesting
We Reserved the Same Room in the Restaurant
Monday, Evening, January 9
1 (1)
Cerwin’s three siblings and a few nieces and nephews got together at Lititz Family Cupboard to visit with Cerwin’s sister, Doris, and her husband, Bob, who were visiting from Minnesota.
1 (3)
Elvin (Cerwin’s brother), his wife, Pat, Mother, Doris (Cerwin’s sister), her husband, Bob, and Cerwin.
1 (2)
Left to right: Mel, his wife Velda (Cerwin’s sister), their oldest daughter Dorretta, with her and Rod’s children Justin, his fiancee, Haley, and Megan, and her friend Eric. Haley and Eric had never met Bob and Doris, so were invited as well.
Notice the wall behind this group. That is actually folding doors which are usually open into the next room, so it was nice to have our own private room. The waitress said there was another private party on the other side.
3 (3)
Imagine how surprised we (and they) were when we discovered that the private party on the other side of the wall was reserved by our son Jere and daughter-in-law Kristen (back left).
Jere is CEO of Lancaster DHIA and had reserved the room for a group of new employees from Vermont.
They were here to see the headquarters and be trained in Lancaster DHIA’s process of milk testing. Brent, the area manager from Vermont is seated on the left.
3 (1)
When I zoomed in on Darvin, he said, “I better smile, because I know where this picture is going.”
He is Lab Manager at Lancaster DHIA. He and his wife, Angie, became good friends of ours, due to their friendship with Jere and Kristen.
If you have the gift of speaking, preach God’s message.
If you have the gift of helping others, do it with the strength that God supplies.
Everything should be done in a way that will bring honor to God because of Jesus Christ, who is glorious and powerful forever.
Amen.
