The 4th Beatitude

Notes from our church’s Winter Bible study on the Beatitudes

Sermon by Pastor Mervin Groff

 ~~~
 Beatitudes are attitudes that teach us who we should be.
One of the most exciting things about the beatitudes is that they are attitudes – and we get to choose our attitudes.
~~~

Hunger and thirst are appetites familiar to everyone.

If we don’t eat or drink we will die.

Do we eat and drink of spiritual things as regularly as we eat and drink physically?

~~~
 Righteousness means noble and right.
This beatitude says those who seek that which is noble and right will be satisfied.
~~~

I just did my own research on the word “righteousness” when working on this entry, and discovered that the Old English word for righteous, rihtwis, means right + wise.

I love that!  Right + Wise!

Closing Words

by Pastor Marvin Shenk

Are you seeking righteousness or are you addicted to spiritual junk food?

We can live in a very clean house, eat only healthy food for our body, but allow garbage into our soul.
