Birthday Interlude
February 8
If I wait to include these after the cruise pictures, my sixty-eighth birthday celebration will be long gone.
Having a birthday a few days after a family cruise seemed like I didn’t need any kind of recognition.
Jere came to our house the night before with a red velvet whoopie pie, a raspberry filled brownie, and a card.
He asked me to not read the card until after he left. I knew why after reading it. We would have both been crying. Instead he left me to cry alone. ![]()
On the evening of my birthday we met Roy and Deb at 2400 – a nice restaurant in the Willow Valley Resort complex.
The food above is mozzarella cheese patties.
They had confiscated photos from the cruise photography area and had them framed for us.
She put this one in a porthole frame.

My meal was a delicious salad with walnuts, cranberries, and shrimp.
The other three got filet mignon.
They surprised me with a birthday cake, and asked the waiter staff to sing Happy Birthday.
My final celebration was this morning when Jere and Kristen’s family took us to Shady Maple for breakfast.
As you can see, it was like driving through a winter wonderland.
Josh and I share birthdays, so we usually celebrate together. He turned seventeen this year.
The little boys liked the specialty pancakes. This is Jared’s M & M pancake. Ian’s was chocolate chip. Jesse just got a plan one.
After breakfast, we went next door to have coffee in Shady Maple’s Cafe – which is located in the grocery store complex.
This is a good place to meet our TFC friends Sam and Alice. They recently had a very neat God-thing happen in their lives, and wanted to tell us about it.
I felt very loved this week with phone calls, cards, e-mails, and more than a hundred facebook wishes.
The roses are from Cerwin.
I even got my Grandma License renewed for another year.
