We Did it!

We Surprised Her.

Kezi thought she was coming to our place to get directions to a camera shop.

Kezi (1)

Jordan (our grandson) was delighted that he and her friends pulled off the surprise.

Kezi (3)

There were lots of smiles.

Kezi will be leaving for Australia in a few weeks – studying and ministering with Youth With a Mission.

Kezi (8)

She will be gone six months.

We – especially Jordan – will miss her, but we know it will be a life-changing experience for her.

Kezi (13)

The food.

Kezi (14)

Delicious ham and cheese sandwiches, a meat and cheese dip, and vegetables. There were also chips, pretzels, fruit, ice cream, cookies, and punch.

Nate and Joram were in charge of making the mocha punch for the punch bowl. They had to mix half a gallon of vanilla ice cream, half a gallon of chocolate ice cream, and a coffee cocoa mix (in pitcher).

We made four batches!

The Recipe

6 cups water

1/2 cup instant chocolate mix – (I use Nesquik)

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup instant coffee granules

Heat the water to boiling. Remove from heat. Add the other ingredients until disolved. Cover and refrigerate for four hours or overnight.

About 30 minutes before serving.

Put mix in a punch bowl and add 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream and 1/2 gallon chocolate ice cream.

Garnish with dollops of whipped cream and chocolate curles if desired.

Yields 20 to 25 servings (about 5 quarts).

The streamers were hung by only attaching them at the top of the garage door so we could open it when Kezi’s parents arrived. Her dad is in a wheel chair due to paralysis from a car accident when Kezi was a small child.
