Rainy, Red Sunset
And a Challenge to You
Wednesday, April 18
Last week we went to an informational meeting on estate planning. We received the invitation from a lawyer who is affiliated with our accountant, and because it was free and on an evening when we had nothing planned, we decided to attend.
We learned some basic things that I will pass on to you.
Have a will. (we do)
Have a living will. (we don’t)
Have a durable power of attorney – and a backup. (we don’t)
Have all your important papers in a safe place and make sure your children (or a family member) know where they are. (we do & they do)
Doing these few simple things will make life much easier for your spouse and children upon your death.
The next day I called our lawyer and made an appointment to make a living will and choose a durable power of attorney – and a backup. (We knew that we should be doing this for a long time, but just didn’t do it.)

A few nights later we met someone who was helping to settle an estate. The relative died suddenly a few months ago – he was in his late fifties. This friend was telling us what a nightmare it was because his estate had not been organized.

This was the scenery we enjoyed on the way home that evening.
The sky was so red, the wet road reflected the same red.
By the time it got dark, I enjoyed taking pictures of light patterns the camera created.
Streaks from the windshield wiper.
