Part 2

Complaining is Not a Fruit of the Spirit

From my notes at Ladies’ Fellowship

1a (1)

A complaining thought pattern will sabotage your spiritual life, and gradually suck the joy of the Lord right out of your life.

1a (2)

Notice the list of sins from 1 Corinthians 10:6-10, sins that the Children of Israel committed when leaving Egypt.

6 These things happened as a warning to us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did, 7 or worship idols as some of them did. As the Scriptures say, “The people celebrated with feasting and drinking, and they indulged in pagan revelry.”c]’>[c] to the test, as some of them did and then died from snakebites. 10 And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death. (New Living Translation)

Sins that the Apostle Paul warned us to stay away from:

1. Do not crave evil things.

2. Do not worship idols.

3. Do not engage in sexual immorality.

4. Do not put Christ to the test.

5. Do not grumble.

1a (3)

Notice that complainers were destroyed by the death angel. The New King James Version says they were DESTROYED BY THE DESTROYER.

Many Christians are serious about avoiding the first four sins, and know they are sins, but somehow ignore the seriousness of complaining.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be destroyed by the destroyer?
