My Fabulous Day of Travel
~~ It was a beautiful morning at Lancaster Airport ~~
The lights in the sky are actually reflections of lights in the terminal.
If flying always went as well as today, I would fly more often.
My ride to Baltimore!
You know you are at a small airport when the agent watches you trying to take a picture through the window and says, “Come over here, I’ll take you outside.”
I chose Lancaster as my airport of departure because parking is free and it’s not too far from our house. Plus the cost was less than leaving from Harrisburg – our usual departure airport.
Can you tell where I am sitting by this view?
The same agent invited me to go in the plane first and told me to sit next to the pilot because he sensed my love of photography. So incredibly cool!
My wonderful friend Sue took this picture of our plane taking off. I looked for their farm, but everything looks different from the air.
I took this picture about the same time.
Conowingo Dam
Just another picture to show you that I was in the copilot’s seat.
I assured the other four passengers that if something happened to the pilot we would crash because I knew nothing about flying an airplane.
I wonder if these people know that the rest of the area is not covered in fog?
Approaching Inner Harbor, Baltimore
The landing strip for our small plane.
One of the things I was concerned about before flying, was my connection in Baltimore. I had never flown Cape Air and thought I may have to locate another terminal to get to US Airways.
I need not have “worried” because the connection was quite easy.
Our flight from Baltimore to LaGuardia was delayed (after we boarded) for some reason, which gave me concern. I only had a fifty-minute layover in LaGuardia.
Again, things worked out. Shortly after getting in the air the flight attendant said, “I know some of you are concerned about making your connections. I will get the information to you shortly. We just found out that we are taking this plane to Portland, Maine, so those passengers will be staying on the plane.”
One of those was me – and I kept the same seat!
I did have to get off the plane to show the agent my boarding pass, so used the short layover time to use the restroom and purchase a chicken salad sandwich on raisin/walnut bread. It tasted good with the tomato juice I was served on the plane.
Yes, those of you who guessed I was going to Maine were correct.
We flew by the Statue of Liberty.
New York City
This other US Airways plane went by us shortly after we landed at LaGuardia.
Approaching Portland Airport
Our daughter Diane took this picture as I was leaving the baggage claim area.
