TFC Ministry Happenings
in which we were involved during the past few weeks
The steps to the new chapel arrived on July 19.
Cerwin is pleased with this new style, as they are much easier to set up and take down than the style that is used for International Chapel #1 – TFC’s other mobile, promotional chapel.
Cerwin took the chapel to Trucker’s Sunday at Family Worship Center, Lansdale, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, July 31.
This was the evening we had a birthday party at our place for three grandchildren, so I chose to stay home.
Cerwin took this picture while Paul, Sam, Howard, and Tish were visiting in the chapel. He was pleased with the interest in the newest chapel.
Cerwin installed a new air conditioner in the chapel at Pembroke (Buffalo area), New York, on August 2.
On Wednesday, August 10, Cerwin took the new chapel to PBZ Steel Service (part of Paul B. Zimmerman, Inc.) to show the guys what their steps look like on a chapel.
Cerwin said it was so much fun showing them what their handiwork looks like.
Most had never seen a completed chapel.
Examining their work.
Three workmen with co-owner Mark Zimmerman.
On Saturday, August 13, Cerwin and Chaplain Jake Wise manned the chapel at The Buck, while I went to our church’s Harvest Meeting in the Barn (see Saturday’s post).
This was the 22nd Annual Truckers Day at the Buck – a benefit for Children’s Miracle Network
This little guy asked Cerwin if he could sit in the cab.
Yesterday, August 15, Cerwin touched up the floor (which it needed after being at The Buck) so I could get a photo of the interior of the newly completed chapel.
If you are familiar with the interior of TFC chapels, you will notice that this is the first time Cerwin used vinyl flooring instead of carpet in the chapel area.
This is a “test” to see if it will wear better than carpet. Carpet gets dirty so quickly because truck drivers do not usually have clean shoes. ![]()
He will continue to have carpet installed in the living/office quarters.
Now there are two mobile, promotional chapels for TFC’s ministry to truck drivers.
All other TFC chapels in North America (6 in Canada and 28 in the USA) look like this, but they are placed at truck stops on a permanent basis, each with a lead chaplain and several volunteers. These 34 chapels are not moved.
The two mobile rigs are available for promotional ministry, like truck shows, churches, and schools – also for temporary placement at a truck stop when a location and staff come together rather quickly.
If you are not familiar with TFC, we also have two chapels in Russia and one in Zambia, Africa.
