Vision Sundays – Community Day

We were invited to bring the International Chapel to this church on a morning when many nonprofit ministries and community service ministries were invited to share local volunteer opportunities.

We went early because our rig needs a lot of room for parking.

A funny thing happened to Bunny O’Hare just as he and Cerwin finished the exterior set up. When Bunny shut one of the storage boxes under the chapel he got his tie caught in the door. (No, I did not have my camera ready, but asked him replay it.)

We were ready before people began arriving so…

…I took time to walk to the cemetery where my great-grandparents are buried. They are my grandma Hawthorne’s parents – and my mothers grandparents. When I was little I remember playing with rubber bricks they kept with their small stash of toys. They were fun to visit.

This in Bunny and Peg’s home church, consequently Bunny was the one who represented the ministry to the audience.

Representatives from other ministries listen to Bunny as they await their turn to share about their work.

Bunny had a TFC display in one of the rooms not far from the sanctuary.

There was a break during the middle of the service where the congregation was invited to visit the displays of the ministries in attendance. There was also time at the end of the morning to do the same thing.

We had a great time talking to those who visited the chapel.

1 (13)

There was a steady stream of visitors both times.

The grandparents of this little cutie in the green dress are good friends of ours. She must be saying something important because the other three are listening intently.

Gene and Rose – if you had a daughter, I think she would have looked like her, because she looks just like her daddy. Her daddy, Dwight, is youth pastor at the church. (I think they better keep an “eye” on that little guy next to her, because she certainly has his attention.)

1 (16)

After people left the church and finished looking at the displays, the chapel was still busy.

We were impressed with the interest of the young people of the church.
