Meeting Ata_Grandma
Part 1
Sunday, May 16
We left Gary & Pearl’s house about 10:00 Sunday morning. During our four-hour drive to Tom and Gracia’s (ata-grandma) house we listened to the Sunday school and morning worship service (via CD) at our home church from Mother’s Day. It made us feel like we were there.
We had an interesting welcome as we arrived at Gracia and Tom’s house. We met two sheriff cars as we got close to their house, then met two more coming toward us as we turned into their driveway. In this picture Tom is explaining what was going on. A naked man had been running through a corn field just a short distance up the road – and the corn is only three inches high.
(Though I attached a smiley – the man obviously has serious problems and need our prayers.)
Cerwin and Tom in their beautiful living room. This is the first time we met, but it was like visiting with old friends.
One of them mentioned the dance lessons they were taking, so they can dance at their granddaughter’s wedding. We asked them for a demonstration.
I like this picture.
Cerwin noticed this potato bug mandolin and pretended to be playing it.
Me and Gracia
If you notice the cut on my lip, it’s because the garden hose hit me on the mouth as I was winding it up on the storage roller on Friday afternoon. We thought I was going to need stitches, but skin glue and a butterfly Band-aid did a good job.
Tom and Gracia were gracious and interesting hosts. We learned about their family, Christian journey, and missionary work in Africa. Later in the afternoon they gave us a tour of their area. We also drove to Winona Lake.
More about that tomorrow night.
