Doris’ Minnesota Kitchen
…where things are cooked, baked, and fried with lots of love.
February 22-26
Left to right: Doris (yes, I have a sister-in-law with the same name as me), Juanita, Mother, and Monica. Monica is married to Jesse (an “adopted” son to Bob and Doris). Mother is peeling apples while the others prepare ingredients for apple crisp.
Juanita preparing sticky buns
Adding butter
Sugar
Cinnamon
Rolling up the dough
Marking where she wants to cut them
“Cutting” them with dental floss. I thought that was quite clever.
The gooey stuff
Prepared for rising – then baking
Out of the oven
Ready to eat – oh, yum!
Juanita preparing the crumb mixture for frying fish. Notice Doris’ cookbook holder is attached below the cupboard.
This is a great idea, and folds away when not in use.
Monica wanted to learn how to prepare and fry fish.
If I remember correctly, this was walleye
When there are so many cooks in the kitchen – I wash dishes.
While relaxing, Mother often recorded thoughts in a notebook that Doris gave her several years ago – asking questions about her life from childhood to now.
Juanita found this quilt (made from material of dresses she wore as a child) when going through her boxes that are in storage. Because Judi took her things to Wisconsin, Juanita wanted to rearrange her boxes before going back to Michigan.
