This Week
Sunday, June 6 through Wednesday, June 9
I decided to enter these photos ahead of Saturday’s wedding, because they will seem outdated by the time I am finished posting Kevin and Becca’s pictures – beginning tomorrow night. Also, Jere and Kristen are in Finland on business, and staying with friends, and I thought they would enjoy seeing these before coming home.
We met several Amish families as we drove to church on Sunday morning – that means an Amish family in our area was holding worship service in their home.
After church, we met Deb and Roy and Jere and Kristen’s five children at Infinito’s for lunch.
Deb had all the children on Friday and Saturday while we attended the wedding.
Jessie drinking orange soda.
Along with a wide variety of pizza, pasta, and salad, they also have delicious, warm cinnamon buns and pizza for dessert. This is chocolate chip pizza.
Our busboy was quite helpful when Ian spilled his soda, and continued to be helpful throughout our meal. If I ran a restaurant, I’d hire him in a minute. When he exclaimed over my camera, I asked him to pose for me.
After the meal we exchanged vehicles. Deb got her small car back, and we left in Jere and Kristen’s suburban – with room for five children.
Deb is always taking care of stranded animals. A few days ago the vet called Deb to see if she would care for this squirrel. She named him Skippy Ray.
She will release him when he can care for himself.
Our household changed from quiet to lots of activity in a short period of time. At least it is Jared climbing the wall and not me. ![]()
Jesse and Ian playing a GameCube game.
Josh playing an Xbox game.
Jordan even showed up on Sunday evening to watch NASCAR.
Monday morning after Josh was off to school, and I was finishing my first cup of coffee, I heard Jesse in the kitchen calling me to help him. He was naked.
I caught the hint that he wanted me to help him dress for the day.
After going to the bank for Cerwin – he needed cash for his trip to Indianapolis – we went to McDonalds. I think Jana took this photo of Ian after lunch.
On the way home we met these Amish women and children in an open buggy.

Tuesday afternoon (after a business meeting) Deb came to take Jared and Jesse back to her place, while Josh, Jana, and Ian stayed with me.

This was the scene on Tuesday evening when Cerwin and Glenn came off the interstate and pulled into Whitestown Travel Plaza, Indianapolis, Indiana. (These three photos were taken by Chaplain Howard and Dorinda Burrell). She put them on Howard’s FaceBook for my benefit.
Just after backing the chapel into place.
Ready for setup. Setup involves putting the steps in place, hooking up the electric, and installing a few other things that cannot be done until the chapel is stationary.

Wednesday evening: Cerwin called to say they were finished with the setup and were on their way to Michigan where they will pick up a donated trailer for a future chapel.

Susan and Jana
This morning we were out of the house early to take Jana to her family’s Amish friends where she will stay until her parents return from Finland.
Jake, Esther, Jana, and Susan. Their mothers were childhood friends, and are glad to see friendship continuing into another generation.
