Telling Children About Trucks and TFC
Sunday, June 20
We arrived at Manheim BIC before 8:30 a.m. to help prepare for a special lesson for the grade school children.
Sherry Stoner was instrumental in setting up this event. Sherry, I appologize for not having a photo of you.
It did not work out for us to take TFC’s promotional chapel because Chaplain Jake Wise had previously scheduled it for his church. (If you receive TFC’s Highway News and Good News, look for an interesting “God thing” that happened to Jake when he was taking the chapel from Macungie to his home church.)
Will and Sherry Stoner’s truck.
This was not a posed photo! Trent was pretending to be talking on the CB. He loves trucks.
After getting out of the truck he wanted his sip cup.
After prayer we were introduced to the children. They are going through a special summer series on how we can serve God through our talents and hobbies.
Gene talked about growing up and wanting to be a truck driver – and his eventual involvement with Transport For Christ. (He is our Truck Rally coordinator.) He remembers hearing about missionaries when he was a child, but he didn’t want to ride a camel in Africa – he wanted to be a truck driver. He didn’t want to ride a donkey in South America – he wanted to be a truck driver.
Cerwin shared a few things about truckers and TFC.
Will and his dad Geof Stoner told about their love for restoring old trucks – and how God does that in our lives if we allow him to change us.
Dale Harnish, dispatcher for a trucking company, shared about his work and how serving the Lord affects his job.
Afterwards we went outside to see the trucks.

They loved the air horns!

We went back inside for a snack of truck cookies (baked by Sherry) and a teaching video.
Rose Gehman served lemonade.
Before going home, they were encouraged to bring their parents and siblings and tell them what they learned about truckers and trucks.

We and several truckers enjoyed lunch at Gene and Rose’s house. Sherry Stoner is on this picture – she is on the left of the two ladies seated in the center. Wil is standing behind them.
Everyone brought something for the covered dish lunch.
It was a delightful morning and afternoon.
