Celebrating Jeff & Chris’ Twentieth Wedding Anniversary
Sunday Evening, June 20, 2010
(Their Anniversary Date is June 30)
When a family dinner fell apart because Deb was in the hospital due to emergency gall bladder surgery, and Kristen was ill from a bug she picked up in Latvia, Jeff and Chris invited us for a light evening snack.
(By the way, Deb and Kristen are doing well today – one week later.)
Jeff surprised Chris with her favorite cake – everything chocolate. There were twenty flowers.
A kiss from Chris to say, “Thank you.”
Next surprise! First he pretended he was giving her a gun by putting his gift to her in a gun case. I don’t think she was totally surprised that it wasn’t a gun – but for the record she is a hot shot and has hit the mark many times whether it was a varmint or a deer.
She was surprised, and after opening the package, kept saying, “Oh, Jeff, you didn’t.”
It was so much fun to watch him surprise her.
He said he had been “listening” for the past year or two to find something really special for her for their twentieth anniversary. So one day when they were shopping and looking at watches, and she said, “If I could have any watch in the store, it would be this one” – he knew what he was getting for her.
Time for the delicious cake and the rest of our Sunday evening dessert.
But first they had to cut it – just like on their wedding day.
Another kiss
A few family pictures
Nathan, Jenna, Gloria, Chris, Diana, Jeff, and Jordan
This one is my favorite.
When Nathan left for a youth activity and informed us that he was going to “burn some rubber.” I said, “Wait until I get my camera.” If you look close you can see the back tire is already beginning to smoke.
Oh, dear. He’s just like his father.
While visiting in the yard, someone noticed this baby robin had fallen to the ground.
Diana climbed the tree and discovered it was the only baby in the nest.
Jeff picked it up with a cloth – to not let a human scent on it – and handed it to Diana.
Later in the evening it fell out again. This time Jeff took it across the road to some tall grass. The mother and father robin almost attacked him. Jeff felt like it was not safe in their yard, because it kept moving toward the road. Also, they have cats who would soon find it. The parents attended to their baby all evening. I wonder if it survived the night.
Gloria, Jenna, and Diana wanted a picture of them swinging.
A few pictures of Jeff and Chris
The setting sun made it difficult to get a good photo.
I like this one best.
While the rest of us visited, Cerwin and Jeff went to White Oak Mills (a few miles away). Jeff was preparing his truck for the Truck Rally, and wanted to show his Dad the new lights and chrome. (Photo by Cerwin.)
It was a fun evening for this mama.
